His Hand Has to Be In It

God has to be in whatever we’re wanting in order for it to succeed.

Looking at Deuteronomy 2, God told the Israelites that it was time for them to stop wandering in the hill country of Seir and to get moving from the area that they were in to another area in the wildness. God instructed them to turn North, but that meant they would have to pass through their “cousin’s” land- the Edomites (descendants of Esau), the Moabites (descendants of Lot), and the Ammonites (descendants of Lot). But in passing through, they were not allowed to destroy or harm these peoples in any way.

God had a reason for not allowing them to touch or harm these people, He had promised these peoples their own land. God’s will when it came to the land that the He would later give the Israelites was not any of the land of the Edomites, Moabites or Ammonites. The land that God would give them meant that His hand would be in it and no one could stop that blessing.

Have you desired something in life- a job, to move to a new city, marriage, to start a business? In order for it to truly work, God has to be in it. It doesn’t mean that there won’t be challenges along the way in obtaining these things. But, in order for them to truly work and succeed, God has to be in it.

But when the Israelites came to the Arnon Gorge, God told them:

Set out now and cross the Arnon Gorge. See, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his country. Begin to take possession of it and engage him in battle. This very day I will begin to put the terror and fear of you on all the nations under heaven. They will hear reports of you and will tremble and be in anguish because of you.
— Deuteronomy 2: 24-25

God’s hand was in this conquest and they won. When God’s hand is in your conquest, you’ll win every time.

Happy Friday!
