A Front Row Seat

I think that sometimes we lose sight of the fact that everyday, at anytime of the day, we can have a front row seat with the God of the universe. We can get caught up in people- in trying to meet this celebrity, or get the attention of that pastor, get the attention of a boss, or rub shoulders with someone that can make our business grow. But, lose sight that God is bigger than any human being, famous or not famous. And, that we should be seeking his presence and not the position.

Not only can we just get a front row seat with God, He wants us to take a front row seat in front of Him and have relationship with us. God is overjoyed and delighted- like a kid in a candy store when we make time to just be Him.

In the Garden, God physically walked with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:8) and I can imagine He delighted having physical contact with them. But because of sin, we are physically separated from Him AND too, our sinful bodies can’t handle the presence of God. I can imagine it bothers Him that He isn't physically walking amongst us.

You see, God has always been this way. It is His nature to desire to dwell amongst His people. Take note of God talking to Moses in Exodus 29:46 (NIV):

During the time of the Israelites, God dwelt among His people in the form of a cloud, or in fire, His presence dwelt in the Ark of the Covenant, or He sent Angels to deliver news or fight battles. His presence also moved throughout the Israelite camp, as He was amongst His people (Deut 23: 13-14).

Jesus, when He was on earth escaped to have a front row seat with God. We see that in Luke 21:37. He relished time alone with God, as God relished time with Jesus. But God wants the same with us.

Though sin still physically separates us from God, He dwells among us in the Person of the Holy Spirit. This is a busy world we’re living in with commitments pulling us this way and that. But we’ve got a powerful weapon against the enemy when we take a front row seat and commune with God in prayer. We get refreshed, we renew our minds, we come into alignment with God’s will for our lives, we receive direction on where to go next, we can defeat the enemy's plans, and we have one-on-one time with our loving Father.

Think about taking a front row seat with God this weekend. Pulling away from the busyness and fulfilling one of God’s greatest desires, which is to be with YOU is one of the best ways to spend your Saturday.

And relax in the truth that a day is coming that we will physically dwell with God when He will make all things new. Revelation 21:3 (NIV) states:

 Happy Friday! xx
