A Message to the Ladies- Know Thyself
Our first job in life, as women is to get to know ourselves. A lot of times we don’t do that. We spend too much time looking to the world to define us. It takes taking the time to know who you are, to be able to deal with the onslaught of negative messages that you’re bound to get.
— Michelle Obama

Women have a deep and special place in the heart of God. He is extremely protective of His daughters. He loves all the women He makes. But, the girls and women that are leaning into His heart, that are aligning their hearts to the Father’s heart and with what concerns Him, makes His heart swell.

I love this quote by former First Lady of the U.S., Michelle Obama. There’s so much truth in the first line. It’s a woman's first job to get to know herself and the first and only way to truly get to know who you are is to find out from your Creator.

Takin’ It Back to Eve

We find out from Genesis 1:27 that both male and female are made in His image. Our first mother Eve's name means “mother of all who have life.” There’s so very much I could lay on you about Eve because she's very fascinating, but today I have written on the topic of "Satan assailing Eve" for a specific reason.

Let me bring in Mrs. Obama’s 3rd sentence: “We spend too much time looking to the world to define us.” The world belongs to Satan and he gladly likes to shift women away from God’s intended purpose for their lives? Why?... because he did it with our first mother Eve.

God created women to glorify Him, to know who they are in Him, to use their strong hearts and strong sense of intuition to encourage and nurture others, to be her husband’s ezer kenegdo aka help meet” (if she’s called to marriage), and to raise up Godly children or be a mother figure to the motherless.

Ezekiel 28 tells us that Lucifer, which means “morning star”- before he fell from heaven was the “anointed cherub.” Lucifer is was the highest being created and his was the highest position in heaven when it came to protecting the throne of God. He was perfect, the wisest of all God’s creatures, beautiful beyond description, and he was the chief worship leader in heaven (see Ez. 28: 12-13). His beauty was compared to gemstones (Ez. 28:13).

Women are beauty and jealous as he is, Satan hates this about women- our beauty and that we deliver life of another human being. And his pride and narcissistic deceit was his downfall (Ez 28:15). So, since his downfall, one group Satan has had it in for is women, and he started with Eve by craftily deceiving her in the garden (Genesis 3: 4-6). Satan gladly shifted Eve away from her intended purpose and works to do it to you too in various ways and through various circumstances.

Be Aware

And while it is our first job in life to get to know ourselves by walking with our Creator God, we must be women who are aware. We must be aware that Satan is a prowling lion seeking to distract us from understanding who we are in God (1 Peter 5:8), and furthermore, distract us from living out our divine purpose on the earth.

He will use situations to get you to feel bad about yourself- if you were born into an unloving household, born without having your father around, if you experienced sexual abuse, if you were born with a body shape that you don’t see on the cover of Vogue and feel bad about it, if you were born with a disability, if you don't have the loving touch of your birth mom, if you had a bad mom- whatever it is Satan is trying to use what may have left you empty to distract you.

How does he do this? He, by way of the world (ungodly people) will try and entice you to fill your void(s) with wrong men, wild partying, promiscuous behavior, premarital sex, prostitution, an eating disorder, provoke you with thoughts of suicide, etc. All of these things will leave you feeling emptier and separates you from having a proper relationship your Creator God.

As young women, being aware will be much harder for those who don’t have someone to tell them who Satan (the world) really is; and influence them to be stronger in thinking about themselves. But to live a wise Spirit-led life, you must be aware of evil (or distractions) when they are coming toward you. If a man is not in love with Jesus and seeking to live a godly life LEAVE HIM ALONE! If that group of friends likes wild partying (orgies, sexual immorality), stealing, drugs, excessive drinking they aren’t friends and run from these kinds of people. If you're plagued with thoughts of comparing your body to magazine covers or others, ask God to help you renew your mind. Talk to someone about your low self-esteem.

When you are aware of what’s trying to come into your life don’t react but see it for what it is, get godly counsel if you can’t decipher whether you should let that into your life or not, pray, and make a decision to not pollute your life with evil (or distractions).

Women have a deep and special place in the heart of God. He is extremely protective of His daughters. Get to know who you are through the lense of your Creator’s eyes and walk with Him. He’s got a lot to tell you about you and how much He loves you.

Happy Friday! xoxx
