Thinking About Your Role in 2017

“And He [Jesus] Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,”

Ephesians 4: 11-12, NKJV

~

Everyone has a role to build up the body of Christ, and we’ve all been called to ministry work, to be equipped by Scripture and our spiritual leaders. As Bible teacher Beth Moore has put it, “our ministries- in all their God- intended diversities and seasons- are supreme reasons we’re here on this planet.” No one is gift-less, potential-less, or purposeless. We all have a ministry.

As we look ahead to a New Year that God-willing we will see and that’s 23 days away, let’s keep Paul’s words from Acts 20: 24 in our minds and heart:

I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus.

I’d like to end with the words of Beth Moore, which are thought-proving words to take into 2017, in our jobs, our giftings, and our ministries:

Our lives are of unspeakable value to God. We are precious to Him. Let’s settle that matter so an overdeveloped preciousness to self does not end up protecting us from our own diving purpose. We don’t have long here. We don’t have time to waste on infighting, foolishness, and fear. We don’t have months to drum up the approval of all our peers. We don’t have years to keep procrastinating. Let’s not just plan to do what it takes. Let’s do what it takes. The joy of the Lord, my friend, is our strength.

Happy Friday!
