Chase Rice’s Key West & Colorado Single Is Making Waves Before The Album Drop

Chase Rice just unveiled a new single from his, a long-awaited album, Key West & Colorado. The ‘Gonna Wanna Tonight’ singer recorded the album in his rural Tennessee studio, and since it was unveiled on July 29th, it has gotten over 2.7 million views on social media.

The song with the same title as the album is what Rice calls “the heart of the record.” He wrote the song with Brian Kelley- his childhood friend and collaborator- and with Corey Crowder, Blake Pendergrass, John Byron and Hunter Phelps. All six wrote it on a writing retreat in Grayton Beach, Florida.

“I had started writing songs at home with just me and a guitar whenever the inspiration hit me; instead of heading downtown and trying to crank something out during a scheduled writing session. I realized that bringing the writing room into my real life – my farm, duck camp, a vacation with my friends – whatever that might look like, was making for some really great songs. So, when we started talking about getting into the studio – what that should look and feel like – I realized we already had the answer. It should feel like home,” says Rice in notes.

When the six got together it was a great experience for Rice. “We camped out there for weeks, usually going for 12-plus hours a day without even realizing the time was flying by because everyone was in such a creative groove. It’s definitely the most excited I’ve ever been about making music, so I can’t wait to share this new sound with the fans,” continues Rice.

Working with Oscar Charles, a producer who has worked with Elvie, Carly Pearce, and Kelsey Waters. Filling his living room with drums, bass, keyboards, a vintage stand up piano, guitars, and recording tools, Rice recorded with a no click track, no pre-programming music beds, and did many songs in one-take vocals.

Rice has performed in arenas with Kane Brown, Kenney Chesney, and Garth Brooks. And he has sold out venues in the US and Europe on his own headlining tours. He’s currently on tour and will join Jason Aldean on his Rock N’ Roll Cowboy Tour this fall.
