The weeklong activities leading up to the ball will raise money for pediatric cancer and bring in celebrities from Robin Thicke to Zara Larsson

Film producer and philanthropist Thomas Pierce and his team have been able to create not just a ball around the annual Aspen Snow Ball, but a community of supporters that include celebrities, actors, musicians, and royalty, along with donors to raise money for children with cancer. This year will be the third year of the ball with a theme of Oh, The Places You’ll Go, inspired by the Dr. Seuss novel, where Christie Brinkley will be the recipient of the Philanthropic Achievement award, and Rollie Jordan will receive the Community Leadership award posthumously. Her son will receive the award on her behalf. Jordan was a former board member that lost her fight with ovarian cancer.

The ball will take place at the renowned St. Regis Aspen Resort, that will bring in people from Los Angeles, New York, and from around the world for weeklong activities, to the luxurious snow town of Aspen. This year’s ball host will be comedian Jay Leno, while singer Zara Larsson will also perform. The ball and its events are hosted by the Children’s Oncology Support Fund (COSF) founded by Pierce. His latest film, The Brutalist with Adrien Brody, Joe Alwyn, and Felicity Jones, recently won two Golden Globes. The three-hour film dives into the story of architect László Toth. Inspired to do something about cancer when one of his close friends died of the disease, Pierce launched COSF and the ball has raised over $5 million in the last two years. Last year $2.7 million was raised alone.

There’s lots of activity in the lead up to the ball. On February 5th there will be the Cloud Nine Take Over at the Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro Aspen, on February 6th there will be a panel discussion at the Wheeler Opera House and that evening a Kick-off Benefit Concert at the Aspen Art Museum where Robin Thicke, Chloe Jane, and Luke K will be performing. On February 7th there will be a shopping event, the Après Ski Soiree, and Night Before Benefactor Dinner. On the 8th is the Ball and Gala After Party at ZigZag. And the concluding event is the Super Bowl Party at ZigZag.

COSF provides funding for research, development, and programming of less toxic therapies for pediatric cancer research in the US. Creating partnerships by working with hospitals and nonprofits, it’s very important for Piece that COSF exhibit transparency, relevancy, and community.
