Couture And Made-To-Order: Two New Collections From Vivienne Westwood Are All About The Individual
It tells the romantic stories of people
Photographed in black and white, the Vivienne Westwood 2024 Couture and Made-to-Order Bridal Collections were presented through portraitures. Shot in the City of Lights, using real people and not models, shows the intimate side of marriage and companionship.
Through ten couture looks we see the signature Vivienne Westwood style, like the double layer chiffon sculpted gown done with heavy ancient Greek drapery. There’s also a ballgown with memorable sleeves in a scintillating organza rose jacquard. We see the House’s punk essence with the scallop Chantilly lace corset mini dress with a hood and fingerless gloves.
The Made-to-Order Bridal collection consists of fourteen looks with a classic tone that Vivienne Westwood is known for. Taking inspiration from the autumn-winter 2022/23 bridal look Daria, it has a deep V-neck with layers of tulle, a fishtail skirt and high split. Within the collection, it’s possible to make six different styles to be accompanied with fourteen accessories like the detachable train, flamboyant sleeves, and gloves in tulle, lace, and embroidered with pearls with roses. The veils are short and long cathedral lengths matching the accessories.
And to tell his matrimonial sartorial story, the House incorporated the dreamiest of textiles from delicate recycled nylon lace, crepe satin, soft stretch satin, and heavy stretch satin from forestry standards and organic double georgette silk.
