Esther Mok is originally from Hong Kong. She studied dance in London  and she's admirable in how her love for God, and her love of the arts- specifically dance.. She inspires those around her because of her faith, her work in the arts, her global travels, and her outlook on life propels others to do the same- to keep Him first!

This Esther in her own words:

Seele Magazine: How old are you?

Esther Mok: 21

SM: Where are you From?

EM: Hong Kong

SM: What's your life motto?

EM: My life motto is "Let go and let God"

SM: What do you do?

EM: I have just finished my degree at Queen Mary, University of London in Drama. As of right now, I am unsure about what my next step is, but I would like to be involved in the performance side of drama, specializing in dance and theatrical performances. Maybe in directing or choreographing, but we will see where life takes me.

I grew up in a household that encouraged me to develop my creativity and I have always enjoyed dancing, singing, performing and painting. I believe the power of storytelling in a creative way can help us critically reflect about life itself and I want to be part of that.

SM: What inspires you?

EM: People: Meeting people from across the world inspires me. I love to hear their stories and learn from their cultural and family upbringing.

Places: I am especially drawn by the natural wonders of this world. I get a lot of inspiration from just absorbing and looking at nature and the amazing creations that exist. There isn't a specific natural site that inspires me; I get inspiration from a tiny flower to a giant rock cliff. My all time favourite way of experiencing the nature is by snorkeling in the ocean because I get really scared and excited at the same time.

SM: What have you learned so far about life, faith, and trusting God? What would you tell your 16 year old self?

EM: These past few months have been quite tough for me and what I have learned is that life is never what we think it should be and will never turn out as how we planned it. We should embrace the changes but also be content with whatever we have. It is so important to have an attitude of gratitude, even in the most unfavourable situations. I have continuously seen God's blessings in my life and have learned to trust in Him, for He is with me, always has been and always will be. God will never ever leave me. When I start to doubt, that is a warning sign to me that I need to pray and communicate with God about my worries and leave it all to him.  I would tell my 16-year-old self to cling on to God, always put Him first and spend time delighting in His presence because He is the best thing that can ever happen. Everything in life can change but He will always be the constant in life. His love is far more than anything that we can ever imagine or experience in this thing called life.

-My dream:  To live in a land full of candyfloss clouds, chocolate waterfalls, rainbows and unicorns. But on a serious note, I want to be a light in my tiny part of the world. This world is broken and imperfect, and I am too. Despite all that, I want to be a positive influence to the people around me and help others to become the best that they can be.

SM: When you hear the name Jesus, what comes to mind?

EM: The Cross --Freedom -- Loving father who sent his only son to die and bring redemption for all the imperfections, brokenness and evils in this world.  -- A promise for a renewed Kingdom-- A way of life that is not about the religion but an access to having a relationship with an amazing, loving and almighty God that we are unworthy to even look upon.
