Book- Finding Freedom In Jesus

Living Beyond Offense goes on sale November 4th.

This book examines 21 Biblical Terms to Transform Christian Identity and Overcome Past Hurts, Negative Self-Talk. Finding Freedom in Jesus helps Christians embrace their God-Given identity.

Biola University professors Dr. JP Foster and Dr. Matt Williams, have combined their theological expertise in Finding Freedom in Jesus: The 21 Attributes of Your Identity in Christ (on sale November 4, 2025) to help readers embrace their God-given identity. The book addresses a critical issue facing many Christians today: the disconnect between knowing intellectually who they are in Christ and actually living in that truth. Foster, Senior Pastor at Faithful Central Bible Church in Southern California, and Williams, New Testament Professor at Biola University, guide readers through 21 biblical terms that serve as principles for overcoming past hurts, breaking negative habits and replacing destructive thought patterns with God's perspective.

Finding Freedom in Jesus blends biblical scholarship and practical application. Each chapter examines how cultural misunderstandings have distorted biblical terms, then presents both Old and New Testament teachings on the concept. The book goes beyond intellectual knowledge by including breathing exercises, worship prompts and reflective practices designed to help readers personally experience these truths.

“If we know who we are in Jesus, everything changes,” write Foster and Williams. “When we know and experience the biblical truth of our identity in Jesus, our lives are transformed from negative self-talk and lack of confidence to confidence, hope, joy and love through Jesus. Once we are transformed through embracing our identity, we will respond with a deeper love for God and for others.”

The book is structured in three sections: who we were created to be, who we are when restored by Christ, and our confidence in Christ. Terms explored include transformed, loved, known, beautiful, rescued, forgiven, redeemed, blessed, empowered, and hopeful, among others.
