The new collection challenges us to reconnect with our origins and the natural elements
The Brunello Cucinelli SS26 collection unveiled during Milan Fashion Week, was one of the best presentations. What made one of the best you ask? Well, with anything in life, it’s the people that make a thing worthwhile. And this notion of caring about people is cemented in Mr. Cucinelli himself. A personable man, his heart and authenticity are so poignant in everything he does, that it naturally spills out into his company and its events. Held at Casa Cucinelli, there were people galore, gathered with a love of fashion and an admiration for the House of Cucinelli.

The Umbrian brand, located in Solomeo, Italy is a one-of-a-kind campus. I was there visiting at the end of August, meeting staff, going on a tour and seeing the production site, and seeing the town that Mr. Cucinelli and his wife restored. It was an honor to see some of the pieces in the SS26 collection being created as well.

As guests arrived, rain was pouring heavily in the city but people still made it out, munched on Italian fare, mingled, and took in the collection. Mr. Cucinelli was seen in the crowd talking to guests and pulling people by their arms, as he’s known to do, to take photos in front of his displayed collection. Focusing on natural elements of water, air, fire, and earth, the House invites all to reconnect with our origins and the natural elements. I saw a knitted top and matching dress that’s representative of water being assembled in Solomeo, and saw the final product displayed at the presentation. The design team was able to capture how water flows, especially in the summer, in the various silhouettes.

Air is captured in airy textures and ethereal hues, in looks that make movement easier. Fire is expressed in a color palette of red lava, rhubarb, and firebrick tones. And earth is expressed in summer tweeds, macro-chevron patterns, needle-punched fabrics, and tactile details that bring out dimension and sophisticated tailoring.
