In LA During Oscars Weekend? Here’s How You Can Be Your Own A-Lister

There are own two hotels worth staying at during the Academy Awards and it’s either The Beverly Hills Hotel or The Hotel Bel-Air

Last year I was in LA during the weekend of the Oscars and thought how cool it is to be in the city of film, during an event that I watch every year on the TV from afar. For movie connoisseurs, the Oscars are a much-loved event, to see if your favorite nominated films will win big.

While LA carries on as usual during Oscars weekend, if you have connections to the industry, you can find yourself at an afterparty that weekend, which is pretty cool in and of itself. But, what’s most enchanting is being able to stay at a glamorous hotel, like The Beverly Hills Hotel or the Bel-Air Hotel during that weekend, soaking the luxury from these Dorchester Collection properties.

It’s known that both of these hotels are for different personalities. The Beverly Hills Hotel is in the heart of Beverly Hills and it’s the hotel where movie stars and others go to be seen, especially at The Cabana Cafe or The Polo Lounge. While, the Bel-Air Hotel is secluded and hidden behind foliage making you feel that you’re on a secluded southeast Asian island. You stay there when you want privacy.

On Sunday, March 10th, at Bar Nineteen12 you can join the Oscars Viewing Party at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Why watch the Oscars alone or from your hotel room, when you can join others- perhaps make a friend while watching the film that will win Best Picture? That night you can sip on your favorite Beverly Hills Hotel signature cocktails and fill out the hotel’s voting ballot on who you think will win big. And who knows, if you stay late enough you may spot a movie star that might stop in at the hotel bar- something they’re known to do post show.

Known affectionately as “The Pink Palace” the Beverly Hills Hotel offers moments of glam and a brush with celebrity. Every area of the hotel has had moments with stars from JLo, to Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, or John Lennon. Rooms whether standard, deluxe, a suite, or bungalow are all spacious.

At the spa, which is not far off from the pool you can get the Red-Carpet Radiance Facial. The exclusive facial was created by celebrity esthetician Angela Caglia. With LED and microcurrent therapy and a multi-acid peel, the skin is enhanced inevitably leaving the face radiant and hydrated. Or, the Pink Palace Facial by Valmont focuses on restoring the skin’s luminosity. Reviving the natural mechanisms of the skin, your face is left firmer with refined pores.

And, in case you’re wondering: yes, the pool is open at the hotel and sometimes it’s warm enough outside to swim. So, after your facial, head down to the pool for a dip. The Cabana Cafe is a great place to dine. Or, the Polo Lounge where you can order hotel favorites like the famed McCarthy Salad for lunch. Sushi and smoothies like Green Envy or 24 Carrot Gold are renowned breakfast favorites.

Nestled in tree-lined Bel-Air is the Bel-Air Hotel. Not only do you feel like you’re on a tropical island getaway, you’ll also feel like you’re at a luxury mountain retreat. Tom Cruise spent a long time staying at the hotel once, President Ronald Regan’s daughter Patti married at the hotel in 1984, Anthony Hopkins has been known to dine there a few many times, and King Charles III, when he was Prince of Wales stayed at the hotel in a bungalow. Opened since 1946, the 12-acre estate is a sought-after place to stay in the LA area.

The Spa at Hotel Bel-Air, which is at the far end of the estate is heaven-like. During Oscars weekend, the Oxylight Facial is the way to go. Using Oxylight machine technology, it works at the cellular-level. The multi-modality facial includes LED, oxygen, microcurrent, resurfacing, and ultrasound that renews the face in one treatment session. In turn, pores are less visible, skin is tighter, smoother and more toned.

Even if movies aren’t your thing and you haven’t watched The Oscars in years, treating yourself to a bit of glam is something we all need from time to time. If you’re in LA during Oscars weekend, or live in the area and need a staycation, why stay at The Beverly Hills Hotel or Bel-Air Hotel for a weekend of glam, relaxation, and good food.
