I’ve Got the Victory

“I have walked in seasons of waiting, seasons of uncertainty and even seasons of mourning, and yet this song declares that the opposite still remains true, if God said it, He will do it,” writes SEELE Faith Editor KB Chakela.

There’s a song by Ricky Dillard titled “I’ve Got the Victory” that has been a constant in my playlist for the past couple of months, if you don’t know it I encourage you to give it a listen.  What hits home for me in this song is the part that goes like;

“If you got it, let me see you raise your hands…

When the devil said no, God said yes.”

I have been drawn to this particular song for one reason, that it reminds me that, despite any situation or circumstance, we have been given victory, despite or in spite any negative report, we have victory in Christ Jesus.

Every time I listen to this Ricky Dillard song I am reminded that no matter what the world or the enemy tried to declare over my life, I already hold the victory.  I have walked in seasons of waiting, seasons of uncertainty and even seasons of mourning, and yet this song declares that the opposite still remains true, if God said it, He will do it.  This song is a declaration in the midst of the storm, that even when you don’t see it, jump for joy and confess that you got it, because you have already received the victory.

This brings to mind the story of the people of Israel in Numbers Chapter 13 and 14.  God’s chosen people had witnessed the hand of God mightily, and yet when they arrived at a pivotal moment in their walk with the Lord, where they needed to trust the Lord who not only promised them a land filled with milk and honey, but had shown them time and time again that they will have victory.  Yet in Numbers 13 and 14, when the spies that were sent into Canaan returned with a negative report, fear overcame all the people except Joshua and Caleb.  We see a pivotal moment, even though they had seen God’s power at work, God’s deliverance from Egypt, God’s protection and provision in the wilderness.  When the odds seemed to be against them, they believed the report of fear instead of the victory God had promised them.  And because of that all the people, except two (Joshua and Caleb) missed the blessing of God at a time when it mattered the most.

What I continue to appreciate about this song, is that it speaks to this exact moment. We have to make a declaration and confess with our mouths that we have the victory.  With everything happening in the world right now it is easy to fall into negativity and believe the enemy’s report, but it is songs like these and the confessions we make as we sing them that are a reminder that when the world says no, God said yes. 2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us”

So here’s my encouragement for you today, don’t believe the “no’s”, the bad reports, the fear, the “you will never”, the “we regrets”, but remember God’s report, Remember God’s “Yes”.  Let us not become like those who forget who our God is, let us trust the one who promised from the beginning, the one who remains faithful.  God the father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

I’ve got the victory, and so do you.
