LoveShackFancy’s Spring Summer 2024 Collection Is All Things Romance
Rebecca Hessel Cohen has created a brand with strategy, and 2024 might be its best year yet
The brand is feminine at its core because its founder Rebecca Hessel Cohen is feminine at her core. LoveShackFancy made pink en vogue way before the Barbie film, and their spring-summer 2024 collection is all things romance at its core, for the woman who is feeling the first blush of spring. It’s for the woman that’s “evolving her style in new ways,” states the house in collection notes. It’s for the woman that's itching to feel the warmth of spring on her arms and legs.
Ruffles, draping, flamboyant shapes, and floral cutouts done in lace, charmeuse, washed canvas, silk, pointelle, and crochet occupy the collection. But so do linen blazers and flared pants in silky lace. A brand where the Victorian era stands out- though Cohen has been known to sneak in the Regency era into collections- in the signature style of looks with low shoulder necklines, corseted waists, embroidered details, pleats, and draping.
Cohen and her team played with the feminine flirty yet fashionable side of women’s fashion by deconstructing Victorian looks, and making way for modernity and the themes of romance the collection centers on. Crop tops with miniskirts and box jackets, Victorian cotton blouses that are paired with moto pants and tailored gilets, and ruffled mini dresses with cropped tuxedo blazers are also aplenty.
It has been a wild ride for Cohen the past several years. Last year the brand partnered with Gap to create a collection, she spoke on a retail panel at Harvard Business School, the brand celebrated ten years, they opened their London store, the brand also announced that beauty products are in its future, and they were represented at New York and Paris fashion weeks. They also have a new Fire + Ice ski collection in collaboration with Bogner. For all their accomplishments in 2023, this year looks to be like another breakthrough year.
A true New Yorker from the Upper East Side, Cohen’s mother worked at Seventeen magazine, and she too found herself in editorial working at Cosmopolitan as their fashion and beauty editor. After designing the bridesmaid’s dresses for her own wedding to Todd Cohen (who’s also her business partner), Cohen got the fashion design bug and launched the brand. Bella Thorne, Nicky Hilton, Rita Ora, Paris Hilton, Kelly Clarkson, JLo, and Sofia Richie have all been seen in LoveShackFancy a time or two.
Rebecca Cohen is one of the most passionate people I’ve met, passionate about what she’s doing in life and you can tell she’s doing her dream job and living her dream life. She has this air about her of not caring what anyone thinks of her. She’ll throw on platform heel boots with a silk maxi dress and trape around New York City, St. Barths, Paris or wherever she happens to be. Her brand is feminine and fancy, yet practical for life’s most important moments like a wedding, graduation, prom, or a first date. She and her design team aren’t just swimming in flowers, lace, and nice table settings-well they are. But, there’s a method to the pinkness, lace, and femininity- there’s a strategy and women around the world are soaking it up.
