Oh, But There Is MORE

“There is always more with God,” writes SEELE Faith Editor KB Chakela

Whenever we find ourselves walking through our own version of “The valley of the shadow of death” (Psalm 23:4), the only thing we can think about is coming out of it.  We just want relief or just to breathe again.  And yes, people say tough times never last, but when your hard season has lasted for years, it doesn’t always ring true.

Unending seasons of struggle can sometimes be all you know, and hope is sometimes deferred, but the truth is: we don’t realise that the “going through” is not for nothing.

Jesus himself reminds us in John 15:2 (NIV), “every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” Pruning seasons are never comfortable, but they are purposeful.  Honestly the bigger the vision, the tougher the refining.  What feels like delay, God calls preparation.

And if we dare to remain, if we choose to trust God at His word, even when our feelings are not in agreement, we just press forward, as Paul says in Philippians 3:14 (KJV): “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”  There is always more, more that He is doing behind the scenes.  More that He is preparing in us and for us, more grace, more assignments, more blessings.

Think of the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:23 (NIV), where the bible says, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.”  Whatever He entrusts you with, He already knows you are capable, and when you remain faithful with the little, He always has more.

So if you find yourself feeling weary, discouraged or downtrodden because it feels like life is pressing you down, remember this, pruning is not punishment, its preparation.  Testing is not abandonment, its refinement, its positioning.

“More” is not always about material possessions, sometimes its character development, and more depth in the things of God, more wisdom, more resilience, and more testimonies.  It’s about becoming the vessel that can steward God’s destiny. Because with God, yours and my story does not end in “just enough.”

Ephesians 3:20 NLT reminds us: “Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” because that’s the God we serve, the God of more.

So if you are in a wilderness season and find yourself in strife, let this be your reminder: God is not finished with you.  What you are going through is just a chapter, not the whole story, and no matter how long you have been in the “valley”, there is always more on the other side of this.

Because with God, there is always more!
