Pistache Founder Camille V. Joli-Coeur Opens Up About Her Jewelry Brand
Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Jen Ceballos, and Lila Moss have all been spotted wearing the brand that blends Italian charm with the New York cool factor
“I’ve always felt inspired by the power of fashion. A great outfit is essential to feeling confident in your everyday life,” says Pistache jewelry brand founder Camille V. Joli-Coeur. “Fashion provides a form of escapism from the world; it helps people find beauty and creativity through dark and difficult times, so I launched Pistache to bring about little items that spark joy in your everyday life.” Coming from French Canada Camille is inspired by Elsa Perreti and Aldo Cipullo, taking their savoir faire spirit into her work as a jewelry designer, since launching the brand in 2022.
I recently become acquainted with Pistache, which means pistachio in French, and I was captivated by the simple circular designs on their bracelets, rings, necklaces, and earrings. The circular designs come from inspiration found in the fluidity of nature. But less is more and for customers, having a few options isn’t so overwhelming. For Camille, she wanted to create a brand that makes people smile and that would be a keepsake throughout the generations, and because Elsa Perreti and Aldo Cipullo are her inspirations, she has led her brand with a touch of their jewelry making know-how. “They brought pieces that are so creative and iconic, and they become timeless. That is my goal with Pistache - I want these items to be little treasures to be passed down through generations. Every item in the collection is made with intention, and I want that to translate itself to whoever wears it,” says Camille.
Camille’s background in fashion and love for jewelry led me to naturally wondering what she was doing before launching her brand.
“Over the past few years, I had been working in fashion Public Relations and VIP Relations in New York. Growing up, I’ve always dreamt of working in this field. It’s been amazing to see how iconic fashion moments, photoshoots, and events come to life, and how much hard work goes behind every one of these projects. Working in the fashion industry has given me the opportunity to see the in’s and the outs of a complex, yet fascinating world. There is truly nothing like it, and I am so grateful for the experiences and education it has given me,” she explains.
Originally from Montreal, Camille grew up in a francophone household. “I knew I wanted something in French that was easy for anyone to pronounce. When thinking of a brand name, I wanted to find something that symbolizes the brand - something fresh, exciting, yet timeless. My all-time favorite color is green and, pistachio is my favorite gelato flavor, which doesn’t hurt!”
The business side of things are handled in New York, while the products themselves are made in Italy by artisans. Camille explains: the bracelets are made of sterling silver, which is coated in 24K gold. The charms of the bracelets are then covered in enamel, which is a technique that requires talent and time. The stones are natural chalcedony stones or pearl mabe. This composition allows for great longevity, quality, and accessibility at a lower price point. From start to finish, the pieces are made with attention, talent, love, and effort.
Eco friendliness is at the heart of Pistache. “When creating the brand, I wanted to have products that I could be proud of and that I feel connected to. My senior thesis at NYU was actually about Sustainability in Fashion, which is a cause I hold close to my heart,” says Camille.
The Rings
“The first product that I launched was rings because I saw a need in the market for colorful, chic, high-quality rings, for under $300,” says Camille. Chunky in style, they’re almost reminiscent to class rings, are colorful, and range from $225-250. “The products are made with love and care from start to finish, and I truly believe that this energy translates to whoever wears them. The rings are made to be collected, and enjoyed for years to come. Anytime I leave the house with a ring (which is everyday!) I get complimented on it! It’s the perfect wearable statement piece that elevates any outfit.”
The Bracelets
Now the brand has expanded into making bracelets, which cost $195. “The chains of the bracelets are dainty enough not to overpower your outfit, but the charms provide a fun pop of color. You can wear them alone, or stacked with other baubles. My friends are a perfect example of this - I have maximalist, minimalist friends, and girls who are right in the middle. They all wear Pistache in different ways, and it looks amazing on all of them!,” she explains.
Time will only tell where Pistache goes, but Camille is hopeful in the brand and what she has built. “I am looking forward to expanding into new product categories, but our collections will always stay true to being intentional, quality-focused, and oh-so-chic.”
