amfAR announces new singers in its gala lineup + event chairs
It was announced today that singers Ciara and Adam Lambert will be performing in the amfAR Cannes line-up. The gala will take place during the Cannes International Film Festival on May 22nd, which started on Monday. It was announced previously that GRAMMY® Award-winning rock band Duran Duran will be performing in a first time since 2013. Actress and AIDS/HIV advocate Taraji P. Henson will be hosting the gala, which will take place at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
Also announced today are the gala chairs, which include Pedro Almodóvar, Angela Bassett, Odell Beckham Jr., Halle Berry, Len Blavatnik, Adrien Brody, Ron Burkle, Marion Cotillard, Tom Cruise, and Colman Domingo amongst others.
“We are thrilled to have such a sensational line-up of talented artists—the iconic Duran Duran, Ciara, and Adam Lambert —performing for us at amfAR Gala Cannes this year and we are deeply grateful for their support of our work,” said amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost in announcement notes. “We are also delighted that the incomparable Taraji P. Henson has graciously agreed to act as host for the evening.”
The night will be made possible by Chopard, La Premier Air France, Kodiak Pictures, and supported by Beluga Vodka, Champagne Telmont, Dassai Sake, Gérard Bertrand Wines, and RUMOR Rosé. It will also include a live auction of luxury goods led by auctioneer Simon de Pury, and a fashion show curated by amfAR supporter and former fashion editor Carine Roitfeld. Twenty-seven brands which include DSqured2, Rick Owens, Saint Laurent, and Courrèges will be donating clothing items for the fashion show items that will be auctioned off that night.
