Who doesn’t like a sleek and quality coffee table book adorning a bookshelf or table in your home or office? Well, Yale University Press has you covered for their newest book on Louis Vuitton catwalk for menswear, out today…
The deluxe royal blue cloth binding and ribbons make the book stand out. It’s the 12th book in Yale’s Catwalk series. Brands from Ralph Lauren, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and other luxury brands have had their runways detailed in well-crafted books, and today it’s Louis Vuitton’s turn.
The book is thick, but well comprised with over a thousand photographs from Louis Vuitton menswear. Like Italian luxury brand Gucci, Louis Vuitton started off making trunks and not just any trunks. Their steamer trunks under the direction of its eponymous founder Louis Vuitton, who founded the House in 1954, were innovative and influential at the time, ushering the brand into becoming a major fashion house.
In its modern age, Louis Vuitton thrived under Marc Jacobs, who was its creative director from 1997 to 2013. Jacobs introduced the brand’s first ready-to-wear line, which included menswear. After Jacobs, the brand has seen a wave of creative talent from Paul Helbers, Kim Jones, Virgil Abloh, and now Pharrell Williams. These directors have taken menswear to another level, resulting in well sought-after and highly regarded luxury wear for men.
Inside readers will find a contribution by fashion critic Anders Christian Madsen. Readers will also discover organized sections with profiles of the House’s various menswear creative directors. Before each collection readers will find short essays that detail influences and highlights of that collection, with illustrated catwalk photos. A plethora of garments, accessories, shoes, models, and creations grace the pages, making this the ideal gift or collectors’ items for a fashion connoisseur.
