Starting the evening was Jelly Roll and Wynonna Judd, who sang his song, Need A Favor. Tanya Tucker and Little Big Town sang Delta Dawn, a song that has touched Country Music lovers since Tucker was a teenager. Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band and Coral Reefer Band member Mac McAnally all remembered singer Jimmy Buffett, who died this year. Hardy, Morgan Wallen, and Post Malone sang hits by the late Joe Diffie, John Deere Green and Pickup Man. And, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Combs, Dan + Shay, Jordan Davis, Cody Johnson, Ashley McBryde, Stapleton, and The War And Treaty sang solo performances.
Lainey Wilson took home the most awards, five in total which included Entertainer Of The Year, while Jelly Roll took home New Artist Of The Year. “There is something poetic about a 39-year-old man winning New Artist of the Year. I don't know where you're at in your life, or what you're going through, but I want to tell you to keep going, baby,” he said when giving his speech. Tracy Champan, who’s song Fast Car is covered by Luke Combs won in the Songwriter category. Chris Stapelton won Male Vocalist Of The Year and Old Dominion won Vocal Group Of The Year. All ballots are tabulated by Deloitte.
The CMA’s first aired in 1967. It is the longest running annual music awards show on network TV.
