Lalais, The First Science-Backed Luxury Skincare and Wellness Brand Solely For Oily Skin

And it’s a product that Oprah swears by

Lalais is a black owned, women owned skincare brand for oily skin that has penetrated the beauty market with a presence that even Bergdorf Goodman had to get involved. The beauty market is oversaturated with brand upon, brand upon, brand with the most eye-catching bottles and containers, all promising one thing or another. But, not all products are tested and good for your skin, even if they come in the most sensual of packaging.

Lalais was founded by Lita Cunningham because of her own struggles with oily skin | Photo Provided By Lalais

Founded by Lita Cunningham, a human resources professional turned oily skin guru that once worked for Elizabeth Arden, Cunningham knew she needed help with her own bouts with excess oil. So, seven years ago she decided to do something about the predicament of her temperamental skin that’s prone to hyperpigmentation, because nothing she was trying, from Accutane to products on the market were working. Working with an internationally known cosmetic chemist, the two developed a breakthrough formula for oily skin, becoming the first science-backed luxury skincare and wellness brand that’s solely dedicated to oily skin.

“Taking care of your skin is finally simple and easy, because we specifically designed four launch products to deliver comprehensive “outside, inside and instant” solutions,” says Cunningham. It’s a product where she and her team have taken the concerns that come with oily skin of excess shine, hyperpigmentation, blackheads and more and turned to science for help. The science uses proprietary Oil Control Complex, naturally-encapsulated time release technology complex, and multi active formulas to balance excess oil, improve skin’s clarity, smooth texture, even the skin’s tone, and improve efficacy on all skin types and tones.

The Perfecting Serum

Bringing the skin into balance, you go from greasy to glow in four weeks. Purifying the skin’s surface, it improves the tone and texture, as well as those fine lines and wrinkles. It’s unique too, according to the brand, because it targets the root cause of where all the oil comes from, acting as 4 serums in 1.

The Skin Perfecting Complex

With an inside, outside approach, the complex optimizes your skin’s health. Tackling imbalance, dehydration, digestion, and stress, the time-release capsules (which can be taken in the morning or at night, with or without food) hits with a balance to oily skin.

The Retinol Renewal

Working to reduce visible signs of aging, it ensures the skin for clarity and balance for the long term. Stimulating collagen production and cell turnover deep in the skin for a youthful look, it leaves you feeling radiant. Reducing the appearance of pores, the skin texture is balanced, dark spots fade, and the skin is brightened. And due to 3 retinoids, inflammation is reduced, which according to Lalais, makes it different to what’s on the market.

The Blotting Compact

A favorite of Oprah, it was listed as one of her Favorite Things for 2023 on Oprah Daily. The blotting papers quickly remove excess oil, making touch ups easy. What’s nice is that your fingers don’t touch the blotting papers directly, which reduces oil from the fingers getting on your skin. And, it absorbs oil without messing up any makeup you’re wearing.

We tried and tested it ourselves and noticed how much brighter and clearer the skin is after four weeks. Our Head of Content suffers from oily skin, like many Black women, and she found it to be a radiating product. While the packaging is clean with its white containers and boxes with gold lettering, giving a sleek style, what hit most was the product itself and the clarity it gave to someone with oily skin. This is a product that you can trust.
