God Always Provides
If God has called you to do something in life- move to a new city, start an initiative, become a freelancer, take a class- whatever it is, it is His responsibility to provide for you.
In 2016 I left Berlin and returned to my home country. I started applying for jobs before I moved home. I didn’t want to be home sitting on the sofa, I wanted to work right away. I was applying for jobs left and right, and I even got close in the candidature in many positions but I didn’t get a job. I would spend my afternoons in frustration asking God what was He trying to say to me. How could I be getting so close but not getting a job- at least one job. “That’s all I need God is one job- it only takes one! How hard can it be?”
I wasn’t getting anything, so I had this idea to start freelancing. I made a website and some business cards and knocked on that door to see if that’s what God wanted me to do. Sure enough, after a couple of weeks I got one client, which was enough for me to sustain myself. Before I knew it, I was back in Europe and Asia for work and pleasure. It was just two months after returning home that God gave me work, not in the form that I was expecting, a 9-5. It was in the form of freelance work. And, I was back in Europe, my favorite continent. We often look for God to operate the way He did in a previous season, but as it states in Isaiah 43:19, God does new things: ‘For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness.’
And even when my Freelance contract ended abruptly with my first client, new work was ready for me. I then spent more time in Europe and went back home for several months for some contracting work. And now, I’m in the Middle East- the MIDDLE EAST!! Haha. But God is providing. He always provides the provision to where He is sending us. We may not know the new thing He is doing, but, we must never forget that He is a faithful Father. He’s not like some human parents who make a baby and forsake it. He handles His responsibilities towards us, He’s faithful and He always provides when we’re in His will. He provides because He has a plan for us where He places us, a plan to be salt and light, a plan for us to grow and learn something and a plan for us to use our gifts and talents to serve those around us.
If I would have gotten a 9-5 when I moved home to the US in 2016, I most likely wouldn’t have had the opportunities in Europe that I received in 2017 and I doubt I’d be in the Middle East now. We shouldn’t always look to God to do what He did in a past season, however, we can rest assured that He is a good Parent and that He is faithful to His children.
