Clouds Move

“What to do? Should I make a decision? Where should I go? Should I take this offer? .... Oh God, please speak!” We’ve all been there, standing at a crossroads asking God to make clear to us what we should do.

In diving into the book of Numbers, chapter 9 this week, I was reminded of “The Cloud and the Fire.”

Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped. (v. 17)

Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses. (v. 22-23)

-In these moments of not knowing what to do, we can take some cues from the Israelites and not move until God has made it clear to us what He wants us to do. And if we’re seeking Him He will give us peace to wait for Him.

-But, don’t confuse NOT moving forward to do something, because in reality fear is holding you back WITH waiting on God. Oftentimes we’re standing at our Red Sea and God is saying, “MOVE cross through and I am with you!”- but we’re just too scared to move. And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward (Exodus 14: 15)!”

-And sometimes God gives us options to choose, to go to the right or the left. And He will be with us in whichever option we choose.
