A Prayer For The Weary

Abba Father,

Today I bring forward the needs and desires of all who are searching for words of encouragement and affirmation. Let these words carry your people through not only their day, but the remainder of this month.

My prayer is that these words would bring deep revelation giving each person an upright posture of strength not a downcast posture of defeat. To every person feeling like they are in a perpetual cycle of unchanged circumstances, I declare that a shift in thought would expose the truth. The truth being; that behind the curtain your work is never finished and never stagnant. For we know that Romans 8:28 is a weapon of defence for all lies and distorted thoughts that are trying to persuade us that we have been left in a place of desolation. We declare God, that you are indeed “working all things together for the good of those who love him, and have been called according to his purpose.” Each person created by your hands holds a purpose, which is the very reason we woke up with breath in our lungs today. I declare that today is a victory day and one that will be conquered well! We thank you Lord for granting us an opportunity to start our day afresh and with new mercy towards better decisions, better attitudes, better motivations, and better ways to love our neighbours and our enemies.

To those who have been struggling with thoughts of suicide, thoughts of feeling insignificant, unqualified, less than or even belittled, I declare and decree the renewing for every mind. I take captive thoughts that have come to steal, kill and destroy against your precious creation. Father, so many of your children are suffering alone and feeling isolated, as if their life is uncommon, yet we know that many are facing trials and tribulations that are indeed similar. Let us not be a people of shame, but a people of unshakable faith! Let us be reminded of the power in our testimony for it will speak of your grace that abounds, your strength that upholds, and your unconditional love that protects. Through our life experiences we have the opportunity to encourage others and it can in turn be used to shape and stir the faith of future generations; even our own lineage. I pray that Romans 8: 26 shall be our reminder that you have given us your Spirit to help in times of weakness. There will be times where we don’t know what to pray, though your “Spirit itself will intercede on our behalf with groans and words we cannot express.”

This week has opened my eyes to the loneliness and pain of so many suffering alone. I have heard the desperation of Christians who are left unaccountable because they cannot confide or feel safe to trust others without judgement. You have not called us to condemn or judge others Lord. Purify our hearts and make us right with you first so we can better equip, mentor and befriend the very people you put in our paths. If you have entrusted us with the heart of another, we should cherish it and protect it just as you do with our hearts everyday. We take for granted too easily the people you place in our life. Position your lost and lonely sheep with strong Pastors, Leaders, Mentors, Teachers and Friends. Remove people in our lives who are leveraging from us and replace them with honest, noble and true people who are willing to be inconvenienced on our behalf.

In the name of Jesus I speak to those who need a miracle. A supernatural, God intervention where man cannot access or change the present by our own will or power. Lord, meet the needs of each person who is struggling to provide for their family, pay bills, find a job, gain momentum or simply needs a physical touch in their body. Let ever single setback become a setup for a mighty breakthrough. Let all unfavourable news or situations set the stage for something new and unexpected, something above we could ever hope for or imagine. Let us be reminded that you are a God of more than enough - you never just meet the basics but you are in the business of increase and uncommon favour. I pray that uncommon favour shall meet your people. I pray for courage to rise up within your people today! I don’t want to pray for just strength, but Lord I pray that each person would have enough courage to shift their mindset in believing and receiving your goodness, your hope and your assurance of protection and blessing. For all that we wait for shall come to pass. Stand strong and be courageous dear ones, so that getting up each day, moving towards things unseen, and running the race becomes a little easier. For we know that Joy comes in the morning and that our circumstance shall not last forever! Though it may seem daunting, the climb is not forever. Though it may seem frustrating the race is built for endurance. Thought it may seem like it’s unending, we know that there will be a day when suddenly God exposes the way forward.

Do not be dismayed or discouraged but trust in the Lord. Life is not meant to be easy otherwise we would take for granted all that we are in Christ. As Sarah Young wrote from her devotional, Jesus Calling, The way to stay on the path of life is to keep your focus on Christ. Awareness of his presence is your best protection.  Amen.
