A Reset To Expose

2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. I like to call it a ‘reset year’ after fashion photographer, Andrew Day called it that in an interview I did of him a few months ago. A quick definition of the “reset” is “to set again; to set, adjust, or fix in a new or different way.” While God has allowed Covid-19 to touch earth and cause as much harm as it has, it has reset humanity to think about what’s most important. And hopefully, it has caused people to sit back and think about what they can be doing better or differently.

While a pandemic has been going on, we have seen political unrest in places like Belarus, the United States, Sudan, and Yemen. A civil war still rages in Syria- 9 years ongoing. We have seen the world’s third largest explosion erupt in Lebanon.

And I think this has been the case for 2020 spiritually as well. The church is getting reset with pastors challenged to look at their churches and where the body of Christ can improve.

2020 has set in motion exposing, exposing of things that mankind has turned a blind eye to for years. And, I think this exposing will continue into 2021. We’re already seeing that with the recent US presidential elections where major voter fraud has occurred. We’re seeing in the UK an opening up of wounds in the British royal family that is sparking an investigation into the BBC.

In years where so much injustice and evil has been allowed to happen, I feel as if God is resetting mankind, allowing injustices to be exposed and wounds to be healed where people thought things would never come to the surface.

And I think the lesson is: is that we should strive to be honorable and holy people. Evil, injustice, mishandling people, bribery, cooking the books, coercion all happens when we begin to take active steps of coming out of relationship with God and doing what we want to satisfy our lustful desires. And, it comes from compromising on small things that lead to compromising on big things, and poof, before you know it, you’re involved in some scandal.

God doesn’t want us exposed for any evil doing. But if we go that route in life, He will expose us before Himself on judgement day- or we will get exposed before men, and both bring shame- or should bring shame.

If there’s something you need to stop that’s wrong, stop it. Part of this year of reset can be having a serious conversation with God and oneself, and stopping what needs to be stopped for a more fulfilling way of living. If it has become an addiction that is hurting someone or many others, get help so you can stop. Confess any wrongdoing before God and ask Him for his power to help you stop before this thing brings great shame and an exposing that will embarrass and hurt you and others. God is holy and if it doesn’t happen on this side of Heaven, you and I will be exposed for any wrongdoing that wasn’t not confessed and stopped.

Happy Friday and with love! God bless you and go bless someone else this weekend!
