The Beverly Hills Hotel And The SIL Partner For A New Fashion Collection

The collection is inspired by Margaret Anderson

The Beverly Hills Hotel is always doing something with purpose, whether that be putting on a photo exhibit about renowned women like Elizabeth Taylor or Dolly Parton, or partnering with Dior for a poolside collaboration, no one can say they aren’t active in the arts and fashion community. Now, the hotel has unveiled its second capsule collection with the SIL in one of the hotel’s iconic bungalows. The looks are retro and elegant, with a touch of Beverly Hills Hotel sophistication.

Who is Margaret Anderson

Originally from the Midwest, from Iowa, Margaret became an astute businesswoman and hotel proprietor. But before hotels, she was involved in California’s orange-growing business. Like so many of us, she fell into what would become her passion: the hotel business. After a difficult divorce she found herself a single mother of two and needed to find a way to make money. So, she began operating a boarding house in downtown LA. By 1902 she was successfully managing the Hollywood Hotel. Her name and success managing the hotel led to an invitation by Percy H. Clark for her to run a new hotel in Beverly Hills. She accepted under one condition: no competing hotel could be built in the entire city of Beverly Hills until 1925.

Taking 8 months to build, Margaret oversaw every detail, and The Beverly Hills Hotel opened its doors on May 12, 1912. Ultimately, Margaret was able to build something that led to Beverly Hills’s incorporation in 1914. “Inherent adversities of the time period aside, Margaret forged uncharted territories and created a business that is so revered today. Through a shared lens of dispensers of luxury and proponents of gracious service to all, this collaboration is a tribute to female entrepreneurship,” says Natalie Bloomingdale.

The collection

The SIL is an e-commerce site where independent fashion designers can sell their creations. Founded by Bloomingdale, she can often be found in the Polo Lounge, which inspires the SIL, from the iconic forest green and white stripes that’s seen around the hotel and that’s found on the SIL’s brand packaging and on their logo.

Working with SIL designers and female-founded brands, Bloomingdale got to work to guide the collection designed by: La Vie Style House, Tyler Ellis, Smock London, Autumn Adeigbo, Keehn Deutch and Cheeky.

Autumn Adeigbo is a black owned LA-based award-winning brand, founded with the vision of highlighting culture, color, and conscience. Working with female-owned production facilities in the US, it provides its artisans with fair employment and wages, which overall, impacts the lives of women.

With this second collection Bloomingdale has been able to round up fashion and accessory pieces that capture Old Hollywood, with stylish silhouettes that exude its golden era with hints of modernity. The collection is available for purchase on thesilshop.com and in the hotel’s Signature Shop.
