Casablanca’s SS27 Collection Turns Its Sights To The Complexities Of Brazil

Rich color, jungle prints, sharp tailoring, and vibrant beach wear fill Charaf Tajer’s latest collection…

Just about in every collection that Charaf Tajer puts out, he highlights a city or a culture within a city. The spring-summer 2027 season during women’s week was no different. Turning his sights to Brazil, it’s a collection that takes inspiration from the complexity of South America’s largest country and Casablanca’s philosophy of no hierarchies and no rules.

As guests walked into Espace Niemeyer, a building by renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares Filho, that used to be the Communist Party headquarters for the French- and the neighborhood where Tajer grew up. Guests were greeted by lush vegetation. The collection amalgamates Brazil’s jungle fauna, beach sensuality, soccer, and carnival.

Tajer sought to draw upon the polar opposites of Brazil, on its complexities to show that varying ideas in a society can coexist. “This Casablanca show is a personal expression – of my life, my journey, of what I love and what inspires me,” explains Tajer in collection notes. “As the title conveys, it is a reflection of how far you can progress – through work, through culture, through passion and love. Where you come from does not have to determine where life leads. The impossible can be possible. You never know where tomorrow may take you. Amor e Progresso.”

Amor e Progresso is Brazil’s national motto that’s taken from its flag that states “Ordem e Progresso.” To capture these mottos, Tajer created looks that imbibe formal and casual, beachwear and what could be worn to dinner, sportswear with sharp tailoring and embroidery, sophistication and ease, intellect and intuition in natural harmony, architecture and nature.

The standout pieces of the collection are silhouettes with rich color, men’s suits with exquisite tailoring, beach worthy sets with jungle prints, and fun party dresses. Brazil’s carnival is ever present with Tajer’s use of beads, sequins, fringe, and tie-dye.

Perfect for next summer. As we head to winter and frosty days of snow and ice, Casablanca’s SS27 collection will be ready to catch us as temps begin to heat up.
