Cher and Nick Jonas Perform At The Cannes amfAR Gala
The night raised $16 Million for AIDS research and HIV prevention
The 30th edition of the amfAR Gala Cannes was a magical night of elegance and deep red vibes at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc. Each year the red carpet is a different color and this year a wine-red tone set the mood as soon as guests stepped on to the red carpet. The soothing yet passionate color extended to the cocktail hour where drink sponsors Beautick, Gérard Bertrand, Hatt et Söner Champagne and RUMOR Rosé were serving up cocktails.

In what felt like too many celebrities to count from Michelle Yeoh, Heidi Klum, Leni Klum, Andie MacDowell, Diane Kruger, Colman Domingo, Carine Roitfeld, Mohammed Al-Turki, Caroline Scheufele, Michelle Rodriguez, Maria Bakalova, Odell Beckham Jr., Bianca Balti, Winnie Harlow, Kyle Kuzma, Diplo, Joe Jonas, Tommy Hilfiger, Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, Paris Jackson, Petra Nemcova, Karolina Kurkova, Brad Goreski, Ellen von Unwerth, Coco Rocha, Elsa Hosk, Marina Ruy Barbosa, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York- amongst the many guests the evening felt full and wholesome.
Attention on celebrity is great but the cause is greater. $16 million was raised at the evening’s silent auction for AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and advocacy.
The evening started off with a performance from British singer Jess Glynne, then the host and actress Demi Moore took to the stage in a shimmery silver gown, speaking on the importance of AIDS and HIV awareness. She also spoke on how in 1997, the last time she hosted, Elizabeth Taylor asked her to (because the late actress was unable to host herself). amfAR Board Co-Chairs T. Ryan Greenawalt and Kevin McClatchy spoke next on the organization’s mission and thanked sponsors. Then the night was off with well-known auctioneer Simon de Pury starting the auction, which included works by Kenny Scharf, Damien Hirst, and Andy Warhol. Lots of laughs were had and memories were made throughout the night.

Nick Jonas sang “I Still Feel Jealous” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” His brother Joe Jonas joined him singing “Cake by the Ocean.” The night wrapped up with Cher singing “Walking in Memphis,” “If I Could Turn Back Time” and “Believe.”
Chopard and Red Sea International Film Festival, DraftKings, and Homolog made the evening possible. Afterwards, guests headed to the afterparty at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc’s restaurant by the pool.
