Why The Carlton Cannes Beach Club Is The Best Place To Dine On The Croisette

The lobster rolls are a must-try

It’s one of the best restaurant spots in Cannes set on the famous Croisette, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, it’s the Carlton Cannes Beach Club. Set across from the historic Carlton Cannes Hotel, the second oldest hotel in the city, it’s the perfect for hotel guests or the public to stop in and have lunch or a refreshing cocktail on a sunny day, the beach club is guaranteed to do one thing: relax you.

The menu isn’t overwhelming and it has something for everyone. You can dine on lobster rolls ($45)- the restaurant’s revered favorite with lobster, crayfish, mayonnaise, lime, chives, and butter on a brioche- and Salmon Cru ($34), which is like salmon tartar with raw salmon, lemon oil, and chives, while taking in views of the Mediterranean and mega yachts glistening on the sea. There’s also the Salade Niçoise ($39) with tuna and a refreshing Poke bowl ($34) with rice vermicelli, mango, crunch vegetables, and peanut ponzu. But an absolute must try is the fresh fish, like the Sea Bass or Sea Bream ($87), caught in the Mediterranean.

For those wanting to lounge on the beach, there are different menu offerings.

Spotted at the club has been Beyoncé, Sharon Stone, and Eva Longoria, but, it was also the hot spot for Cary Grant and Grace Kelly- before she was royalty. And British film director Alfred Hitchcock filmed scenes from his classic To Catch A Thief at the beach club and its adjoining hotel the Carlton Cannes. Who can forget Grace Kelly in her gown standing in the hotel’s Grand Salon in the film? It was also here that during the 1955 Cannes Film Festival, Kelly and Prince Rainer III of Monaco had a private meeting, which is suspected to have led to their 1956 wedding in Monaco.

There are a lot of options of places to dine in Cannes, and there are lovely restaurants on the Croisette, but the Carlton Cannes Beach Club is one of my favorite places on the Croisette to dine, have a meeting, sip on a cocktail and just relax. Everything offered is quality and tastes good, but most importantly the staff are welcoming and friendly.
