Delay Is Not Denial

We live in a society where we all want things to happen now. Social media and societal influences affect our lives even if we don't know it. We pray and pray for the desires of our hearts and when it doesn't happen in the timing we want it to, we tend to lose hope. God makes us wait for a reason, he allows opportunities and blessings to happen in his timing. When what we want doesn't happen right away, there is a reason.

“Delay is not denial” has been a phrase on my mind lately. This past semester in college was difficult. I started my internship search back in November, trying to find the right fit for myself. As the year went on, I received call backs, moved further in interviews but also received rejection letters. I had to keep reminding myself that delay is not denial. Receiving multiple rejection letters was tough, I kept thinking, “how am I going to find anything?”. I felt pressure from my peers, my college and my family.

Patience can be a tiring ordeal.  A verse that I stumbled across through this waiting period was Habakkuk 2:3. The context of Habakkuk 2:3 focuses on patience and trusting the process. God knows exactly when to send what he has for our lives, we just have to wait on his timing. Evangelical pastor, Rick Warren has a profound quote that reminds us how far we have come. We must remember how much God has done for us.

Remember how far you've come, not just how far you have to go."

This quote speaks volumes, stop worrying! Trust that God will provide.

God allows us to wait so that we can grow as Christians. Delay doesn't mean denial, it just means wait. Waiting is hard for us because our society doesn't believe in it. If things do not come in an instant then we move on. Patience is a virtue that needs to be valued more.

What a blessing it is to know that God loves us and will work things out for us. God wants to make his blessings known through us. We are his earthly vessels. Understand that everything will happen in due time. Instead of dwelling on the fear of the unknown or rejection, wait on God's provision. He will come through, we just have to trust the process.
