Book: I’ll Be There

“Nobody gave us a handbook on how to deal with friendships when we became adults,” so we decided to write our own.”
— Amy Weatherly & Jess Johnston

Jess Johnston and Amy Weatherly met through the beauty of the internet three years ago. After bonding over queso and the Enneagram, their friendship easily moved from surface-level to deep, raw and authentic. Their conversations seemed to always end on the topic of friendship – the source of some of their highest highs, but also their lowest low. Together they created the Sister, I Am With You online community, a space where millions of women get real about friendship. No topic is left off the table; Jess & Amy pour their hearts daily into encouraging women across the globe to engage in authentic connection with each other.

In their debut book, I’ll Be There (But I’ll Be Wearing Sweatpants): Finding Unfiltered Real-Life Friendships in This Crazy, Chaotic World, Jess & Amy offer an-easy-to-follow road map to the place we all desperately want to be—authentic friendships. The message of the book is simple: let’s not do life alone; let’s do it together. Jess & Amy share real life examples and actionable steps we can all take to build deep and satisfying friendships.

“Nobody gave us a handbook on how to deal with friendships when we became adults,” write Jess & Amy, “So we decided to write our own. We didn’t write this book because we’ve always had deep friendships. We’ve done the obligatory half laughs. We’ve eaten food we hated, wore pants that were too tight and we’ve tried for so long just to belong somewhere— anywhere, and now, we just want to be with people who feel comfortable. We want friendships that feel secure and safe and made to last. We want to be there. But this time, we’ll be wearing sweatpants.”
