How the Met Gala Serves As Inspiration For Your Wedding Gown

Tips on how to choose the perfect dress

The recent Met Gala may have surely caused us some serious fashion inspiration for your upcoming wedding day, or wedding events that you may attend soon. There were many elaborate looks that captivated audiences from across the globe, especially ballgowns that shimmered, glistened, and were ethereal. Although these outfits take hours or possibly months to make, does that mean we have to stress out about what to wear during our big day or for someone else’s? Here are a few tips on how to choose the perfect wedding dress or outfit.

As your future wedding day approaches, you should already have a good idea about what designers or brands you want to look at. Make a list of all the places you want to visit to find your outfit. Be sure to book an appointment beforehand or contact the store to see if they have what you’re looking for. Choose something that you like, whether it’s contemporary or traditional in style. Make sure that the dress’s price is the amount you want to spend and not more than that. Be mindful about what you spend so that you have enough to splurge on other items that you may need later.

Take the time to try on the dress and make sure that it looks great on you. If you don’t like the way it looks on- even for a second, don’t get it. A wedding celebration is a day to remember, even if it isn’t your own wedding and if you’re attending a close friend’s wedding instead. You want to wear a dress that creates a good memory in your mind that will be cherished forever. Also keep in mind that if the outfit is slightly snug, don’t get it! You shouldn’t lose weight just to fit into an outfit. You want an outfit to make you feel good, from the inside and out.

Once you find the glamourous outfit that is meant for you, try the dress on with the shoes that you’re going to wear. If you’re going to get alterations done for something, make sure that the outfit can be altered as certain outfits cannot be changed at all. Give yourself time for multiple outfit fittings as it can take time for things to be completely ready, especially customized clothes. Have patience and you will find the perfect outfit that will look gorgeous on you!
