Kelly Rowland Will Perform at The 2024 amfAR Gala in Venice
It was announced today that singer, songwriter, actor, and TV producer Kelly Rowland will perform at amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research’s gala that will take place on September 1, 2024 in Venice, in conjunction with the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The event will take place at Hangar Nicelli, Lido di Venezia.
Rowland, who used to be a part of the girl group Destiny’s Child has been a supporter for amfAR for many years, as HIV treatment and prevention is her passion. Having gone many times to Africa to bring attention to inequalities on the continent, which includes in the area of HIV. According to news notes from amfAR, nearly two out of every three people living with HIV today reside in Africa.
Rowland attended this year’s amfAR Cannes Gala during the Cannes Film Festival, and in 2022 amfAR awarded the singer their Award of Courage. Since 1985, afar has put $635 million towards programming, and awarded 3,800+ grants to research teams around the world.
“We are thrilled and grateful to have the multi-talented Kelly Rowland performing for us at amfAR Venezia," said amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost in a statement. “Her incredible voice will help make this a truly unforgettable evening."
There will be a live auction of artwork. Last year film director Ava DuVernay was honored, and event chairs included Angela Bassett, Kate Beckinsale, Paul Bettany, Fan Bingbing, Jeremy Irons, Milla Jovovich, Alexander Skarsgård, Teyana Taylor, Michelle Rodriguez, and Henry Golding. And this year’s sponsors include World Gold Council and The Red Sea International Film Festival, with Chopard and Campari as Signature Sponsors. San Clemente Palace Kempinski is the official hotel partner. Boroli Wines and RUMOR Rosé are supporters of the gala as well.
