Roger Vivier’s “Vivier Express Travelling Icons” Campaign Kicks Off With Laura Dern In Its First Episode

Actor Laura Dern has been a longtime supporter and ambassador for French luxury shoe brand Roger Vivier. The brand’s first instillation of the Vivier Express “Travelling Icons” series of short films celebrates the Roger Vivier’s iconic designs, like the Viv’ Choc handbag that was on display at their AW24 Paris Fashion Week presentation in March.

The film was imagined by the brand’s creative director Gherardo Felloni, along with Italian director Nicolangelo Gelormini, screenwriter Andrea Danese, and Studio Paura who have all worked with Felloni in films done in 2018 for the brand. But, the first episode is with Dern, and it’s done tastefully with creativity and wit. “It’s such a delight to see my friendship with Roger Vivier and Gherardo Felloni blossom into a new project that combines my craft of acting with my love of fashion. The Vivier Express is such a playful concept that reinterprets so many cinematic tropes with humour and style,” says Dern in notes.

Set on a train in a bygone era, the Vivier Express glides through the French countryside with a blush pink velvet and shiny brass interior- a nod to the Roger Vivier aesthetic. Dern’s character encapsulates the meaning of the Viv’ Choc handbag, which mirrors her timelessness and glamour with its chain strap and turnkey lock, curved corners, sculpted leather, and noticeable buckle. Passing through cinematic vignettes, viewers see the detailed craftsmanship of the brand.

As she rides the train, a handsome traveler sits opposite of Dern gazing upon her beauty until their eyes meet. She’s wearing the “I Love Vivier” pumps with pointed décolleté and red insoles that form a heart. The air is tense with their attraction, yet she poses for him as he sketches draw her. “With each whimsical twist and turn, the Vivier Express “Travelling Icons” delivers a captivating narrative that celebrates the intersection of fashion, art, and storytelling, firmly establishing the Viv’ Choc handbag as a beacon of style and sophistication, much like Laura Dern herself in the world of cinema,” shares the brand in notes.

“It feels natural to communicate Roger Vivier’s aesthetic through cinema, given the House’s historic connection to Hollywood and the world of French and European cinema that began with Belle de Jour,” says Felloni. “Laura Dern is an actress with a rare charisma, and I am obsessed by the David Lynch films she has acted in, so she has often been an inspiration for me. I am extremely honoured that she decided to collaborate with Roger Vivier on this project highlighting the Maison’s icons.”

Other episodes with of other notable actors on the Vivier Express will continue with Isabella Rossellini and Isabelle Huppert to Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and Catherine Deneuve.
