Show Some Self-Love: This Valentine’s Day, Put Yourself First
Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year, is almost here. In addition to doing something nice for your significant other, how about you do something nice for yourself by showing some self-love?
One really nice way to be good to yourself this Valentine’s is to sit back and unwind. It could be the simple act of having a cup of tea outside on the porch or reading the book that you had lying on your side-table for months but haven’t gotten the chance to read it till now. Just do something that you like that day. Make Valentine’s all about you.
Another way to show self-love is spending time with friends and family. Spend time with your parents or even meet up with your best friend that you haven’t seen in a while. Surrounding yourself with loved ones can serve as a reminder that love can come in any form. Cookie the Rescue Dog taught me that. He’s shown so much unconditional love to my family and I. The way he comes to greet me every day whenever I see him is a wonderful display of love and affection.
On Valentine’s Day, I noticed that everyone around me is so caught up with everything else, that they forget to take care of themselves. There was a time in high school that I was so low in confidence that I felt like I wasn’t being the best version of myself. Once I started making some changes, I automatically gained confidence. Imagine, I couldn’t even talk properly to others as I was super shy as well, and now, I can talk to anyone that I want to. Because I took the initiative by taking a debate class in school, I was able to build up my confidence whenever I spoke to others. Taking that class was an act of self-love. My confidence excelled and changed my life. If this can change my life, I’m sure one day of self-love will make a huge difference in yours. Perhaps you might even become a better person! The possibilities are endless.
Valentine’s is all about you first and foremost. Learn to put yourself first. When you do that, you’ll feel a lot better about yourself and gain confidence. Not only that, but it’ll remind you that love is everywhere. You can even change as a person. So, this Valentine’s Day, remember, you’re the most important person in your life. Be good to yourself and show some self-love.
