The Mayfair Townhouse Is Quaint And Cozy, A London Must
One of London’s cutest luxury hotels you won’t want to leave
Comprised of fifteen Georgian townhouses and set in Mayfair, just a stone’s throw from Green Park is The Mayfair Townhouse on Half Moon Street. Once home to renowned Irish poet Oscar Wilde, the hotel exudes his ostentatious style. Under the Iconic Luxury Hotels group, which is behind iconic hotels like Chewton Glen and Cliveden, the hotel is designed with modern luxury though it’s set in 17th century buildings with 1920’s style touches.
Restored inside and out by London-based interior design studio Goddard Littlefair, who was able to capture the historical essence of the hotel. Wilde’s charm is throughout the hotel. He was the one who championed the Aesthetic Movement in Britain in the 19th century, where the country saw a vast change from the style of the Industrial Revolution era to things being beautified. Art pieces ooze throughout the hotel from paintings to the noticeable peacock sculpture in the lobby.
I loved everything about this hotel, from the quaint lobby and dark rich colored walls filled with art all over the hotel. The narrow hallways open up to the most delightful of rooms. Whichever room you may have you will find it spacious filling all your hotel room needs. With a 5-star rating, the hotel’s standard rooms are quaint with a B&B feel, while suites are spacious with some having their own garden. 172 rooms in total, some range in size but all have a home away from home feel.
There is all-day dining with a quintessential English buffet breakfast, or a-la carte option that’s served downstairs in the Club Room. The Dandy Bar on the ground floor serves a range of mocktails and a classic full menu of items ranging from vegetarian dishes to burgers, and lamb main dishes.
For a boutique hotel feel The Mayfair Townhouse is the place to stay in the British capital.
