The Workwear Edit: 3 Hero Pieces

Now that work has started again, it’s time to have your wardrobe ready for work. There are three hero pieces that I absolutely love for work. I have my “go-to” dress, a button shirt, trousers, dark jeans, and a pencil skirt.

The thing about having a “go-to” dress is that this dress is so versatile and can be good for work and even for a night out. Such a dress would also consist of a solid color such as dark blue or black. This dress should be something you’re comfortable wearing to work, even if you’re still working at home. Choose something that you feel suits your body type. This dress can also have some print or lace on it, but make sure you feel comfortable wearing it, otherwise there’s no point to even wearing such a dress.

The second option would be a button shirt. This shirt is an absolute must for work and even to have in your wardrobe in general. This hero piece goes a long way as you can wear this with almost everything. I personally prefer wearing such a dress shirt with black trousers or skinny jeans while working from home. I like pairing a dark pair of skinny jeans with a lovely dress shirt. This also tends to be a great source of comfort while working from home.

The third hero piece would be trousers, dark jeans or a pencil skirt. If your work allows you to wear jeans and a shirt while working from home, go for it. Otherwise, stick to trousers or a pencil skirt with a dress shirt if your work environment is more formal. I like pairing a plain shirt with a pencil skirt or a dress shirt with dark jeans. If I have to go for a meeting or to the office, I prefer wearing black jeans with a dress shirt.

Having these key pieces in your wardrobe will prepare you for looking your best at work, whether working from home or from a corporate space. As the familiar saying goes, clothes make the person. So, shine on. You deserve it.
