Vivier en Fleur: Refined Whimsy
Roger Vivier opened its Maison during Paris Fashion Week to reveal “Vivier en Fleur,” the Spring–Summer 2027 collection by Creative Director Gherardo Felloni…
Pearl by pearl, against the brightest pink satin, this collection makes a quiet statement: fashion for women was never truly about being seen, but about being observed for who they are at heart. I believe that is exactly what Monsieur Roger Vivier, who opened his first boutique in Paris in 1937, understood, and what I noticed in Gherardo Felloni’s return to the archives for this season’s collection. While the world is constantly shifting in pursuit of something new, Vivier continues to look back into its timeless archives, taking what was already a work of art and refining it for the modern woman. Felloni named this collection En Fleur, meaning “in bloom,” and that is exactly what it feels like. Stepping into the essence of this collection, I see femininity, elegance, and the whimsy of a girl who has grown up and refined her taste without ever losing the girl she once was. It reminds you of the older sister you always admired, the one you could never quite “figure out,” yet somehow always seemed effortlessly timeless.

“Vintage” may be an easy word to reach for when describing this collection, but it feels far too limiting. Instead, the collection exists somewhere between the past, present, and future. It evokes the image of an older sister who has grown into herself without ever losing her inner child. The delicate butterfly beading brings that idea to life, layer by layer. Every detail feels intentional, creating a visual language of confidence and femininity, and an invitation for women to embrace and walk fully in both.
We as women are constantly refining ourselves while still fighting to hold onto our sense of whimsy, and I believe that is something Roger Vivier understood about women from the very beginning. This collection is not merely pulling from the archives; it is refining a timeless understanding of what it means for a woman to walk confidently in her femininity. So many brands shy away from color, while culture often frames elegance and poise as something structured, restrained, plain, and professional. Roger Vivier does something different, and Gherardo Felloni carries that vision forward. He brings the whimsy to the forefront, draws from the timelessness of the past, and refines it for the modern woman. That is what feels so beautiful about this collection. Even in the pure black pieces, Felloni draws out the elegance of the feminine through the structure, movement, and texture of each material. There is a deliberate balance between softness and structure, whimsy and refinement, creating a bridge between a free-spirited women and poise.

Every piece told a story because a statement piece like Roger Vivier is not there simply to be seen, but to be observed beyond what they “look like.” The bags were paired with the shoes, but it went beyond matching as the pieces correlated almost like a color wheel, each one speaking to the next. Nothing felt like it was putting you in a box even down to the bows.
The buckles brought me right back to the inspired beginnings of the Maison, when Monsieur Roger Vivier opened his first boutique in Paris in 1937. There was something about seeing those details return that made the history feel alive again. The iconic Belle Vivier slingback now sits on a spool heel pulled straight from the archive, with a wider buckled vamp in mustard suede, patent leather, and satin, made for daytime and for a woman who is always on the move. Then they dressed the Belle Vivier in denim and precious embroidery, and suddenly an icon of a piece like Roger Vivier becomes something you can actually live in every day.

I especially loved the line of sneakers which included a flat with a running-shoe rubber sole, with lace vining across it, bringing together something playful with something distinctly modern. Lace has been part of Monsieur Vivier’s world since the shoes he designed in the 1960s, so seeing it return in this way felt like another conversation between the past and present. It truly brought out the inner child within me while still knowing I am a woman. And the butterfly beading, I absolutely adored it. The butterfly first appeared in July with the Pièce Unique Autumn-Winter 2026/27 collection during Haute Couture Week, and now it has flown into this Spring-Summer collection, hand-embroidered onto satin jewel bags, pointed mules, and slingbacks. Its metamorphosis feels like the entire collection in one piece: something already beautiful, still becoming, just like a woman.

Even the denim gilets bloom, with crystals and beads that tremble, sequins layered from blush to pearl, and hand-embroidered flowers that take you back to the macramé and lace of the 1960s. The charms move from chain to jewel to bag, allowing every woman to build her own combination, while the foulards are knotted directly onto the shoes and bags. It is playful, and not just a fashion piece, but a reflection of one’s spirit, it is personal.

And that is what this collection reflects. Confidence, yes, but something deeper than confidence. It reflects pure femininity, and true spirit: the experience of stepping into the feminine expression of your truest self. The contemporary woman does not have to be boxed into what much of the world expects her to be, particularly the idea that elegance has to exist within a professional, structured, restrained box. Roger Vivier does it differently. The Maison unveils a new attitude of design for the modern woman, one where she can still feel like her little self while stepping fully into the new version of who she is becoming as an adult.
She can wear the bow. She can wear the butterfly. She can wear the pearls, the sparkle, the color, the lace, the denim, the jewels, the details the world would like to call “too much” but Roger Vivier redefines that. None of this takes away from her womanhood. If anything, it gives her more room to express it fully. It is the whimsy of the girl she was, refined by the woman she continuing to become.
