Why Kilian Paris’ Her Majesty Should Be On Your Valentine’s Day Gift List

Her Majesty is inspired by founder Kilian Hennessy’s journey to Japan and the delicate beauty of Sakura blossoms. It’s gentle and sweet, the perfect Valentine’s gift for a little girl or a woman who loves floral scents

Introducing its first Chypre — a modern reinterpretation in which Hennessy uses contrast to convey emotion into scent. It was in Kyoto, walking along the Philosopher’s path that Hennessy was struck by the sight of cherry blossoms carried by a gentle wind, their petals scattering like snow. Upon returning to his atelier, he set out to capture that vision — grace and strength — and translate it into scent.

Hennessy worked with perfumer Caroline Dumur to create the fragrance. Beginning with ambrette seeds for softness, rose for grace, cedarwood for structure, and cypriol with oakmoss for depth, Her Majesty began to come alive. A hint of peach evokes the light fruity facet of the Sakura flower. Each element — ambrette seeds for natural musk, rose for grace, and marine notes recalling the flowing stream — was composed with meticulous precision, harmonizing into a fragrance of contrast and emotion.

Kilian Hennessy was born for what he does. Creating a good perfume requires that one has the right nose for it, and that started when he was born into one France’s most illustrious dynasties in fine liquors, Cognac to be exact. Taking his olfactory sensibilities into account, of which he stands as the eight-generation heir to his family’s dynasty, Kilian decided to drop the Hennessy from his brand’s name and take more personal approach and simply call it Kilian Paris, when he launched the brand in 2007. For Hennessy, perfume is not only a weapon of seduction but also a symbol of armor, and a shield of protection from the outside world. The brand’s fragrances span across five olfactive families: The Fresh, The Narcotics, The Cellars, The Smokes, and The Liquors.

Her Majesty is probably my favorite fragrance from the Maison. Every fragrance that the brand creates is high quality, enchanting, and memory enticing. This fragrance has been created with the upmost precision, and is an ultimate shield of protection with its floral sweet essence.
