Why The Mornington Hotel London Kensington Should Be Your Go-To London Hotel

The small boutique hotel in Earls Court will meet your hotel needs

Last week I was in London and the day before I arrived, I needed to get a hotel for one night. So, on to hotels.com I went to quickly look for something. I’m quite particular about hotels, they need to be clean above all and modern, if possible. It can take me a good thirty minutes to an hour to find something, but twenty minutes into my search I saw the hotel: the Mornington Hotel London Kensington. Clicking on it, I said to myself, “this is it.”

And, that was it. It is now my go-to hotel in London. Even if I am inconvenienced staying on the other side of London from where I need to be- and London, if you don’t know it is a big city- I will venture to Earls Court and stay at the Mornington Hotel London Kensington. The hotel is easy to reach via the tube from King’s Cross or Heathrow Airport. With step free access (meaning there are elevators or escalators) you can reach the hotel without having to carry your bags up or down any stairs.

A Best Western hotel and part of the BW Premier Collection, you notice a touch of luxury. The black and white chess tiles out front is inviting as you walk in. The hardwood floors with modern furnishings don’t feel like other London townhouse hotels that are dated and aged. The staff are friendly and warm, and they were so kind to let me check in earlier, before the check in time. Do note, checking in early is subject to availability but the hotel will try and try to get you into a room earlier.

My room was on the lower ground (LG) and it was the cutest room, fulfilling my hotel room needs. Reception told me that rooms on the LG level are slightly bigger and it was able to fit one large suitcase and one smaller one comfortably, while still giving me the space to walk around. The rooms are small but they’re clean, modern, as well as the bathrooms. With modern white tile, bathrooms have a shower, toilet and rectangular sink. The Rituals bath products add a nice luxurious touch as well.

In the room you’ll find a full-sized bed, bedside table on one side, a rack to put your clothes on, and a kettle with tea, sugar, cream, and regular and decaf instant coffee. When I needed some toiletry items that night, one of the staff was very helpful and kind enough to search the hotel to find what I needed, going above and beyond.

Breakfast is held in the dining room, just to the right of reception. It was really full when I went, so I sat at the bar and ate. It took a while to order, as the waiters were quite busy but what struck me the most was their kindness as they worked through the breakfast rush hour. Offering a full English breakfast, you order off the menu what you want and then there is a buffet with cold items from yogurt, sliced meats and cheeses, fruit, breads and juice.

From the kind staff, to the modernity of the hotel, and the cleanliness of the rooms I give this hotel five out of five stars. You don’t have to worry, it’s one of the best hotels in the city and has now become my go-to stay, as I don’t need hotels.com anymore (unless the Mornington Hotel London Kensington) is fully booked.
