Beauty From Within: Accepting the Way That We Look Like Right Now

As the pandemic is fast becoming a thing of the past, the thing on our minds right now is how to look good. Does it really come down to what we wear, the way we talk, or how we appear to others? If there’s one thing that’s certain, the way we look should not depend on what others think of us. We should accept the way we look like right now with no compromises.

Putting on weight is quite natural but what if we can never be as slender or as thin as we use to be and now look totally different? Time changes people and the pandemic has certainly changed the way we all think about the way we look. What was once considered to be the utmost standard of beauty is now scorned upon and looking naturally beautiful is now the new trend. We now accept our diverse skin tones and all that comes with it, be it from our natural hair to our blemished skin. No one wants to look perfect anymore or so it may seem. You might find countless natural selfie looks on social media, but what’s most surprising is how some of us still seem to shun the weight we’ve put on during the pandemic or the way we look like right now.

As an influencer, I can’t help but notice the number of times people try to endlessly look thinner or completely different online. That’s certainly not being true to themselves. In fact, it’s a lie trying to pretend to be flawlessly perfect all the time. I accept that I may have put on weight or whatever, but that does not degrade my worth and neither does the fact that I don’t look like the perfect influencer ever discourage me from posting real pictures when needed. I’m honest and true to myself. Yes, we all know that we have retouched photos and certainly others can tell when someone is posting such photos, but we shouldn’t lie to ourselves that it is an “unretouched” or “natural” photo when clearly, we have used a filter or makeup to cover up our perceived flaws.

Beauty is supposed to be real. No one wants fake posers or fake anything for that matter. We should accept the way we are right now, even if we do weigh more or less than before, and even if we do look a bit older. These are signs that we’re alive and that we’re not afraid to show our real selves to the entire world. That’s what a true influencer is by using his or her influence for the better.
