New York Fashion Week is almost upon us and eBay, in partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is unveiling Endless Runway: The Archive. A one-night retrospective that will celebrate designers, clothes, and defining moments in fashion for the past forty years at NYFW will be on display and up for auction.
Endless Runway: The Archive will feature 150 archival pieces by American designers, sourced from eBay, along with pieces given by renowned fashion brands. Participating designers who will contribute pieces from their archives are: Calvin Klein Collection, DVF, Michael Kors Collection, Proenza Schouler, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Wang, Willy Chavarria, and more. Quite simply this event will bring fashion alive with its storytelling led exhibition and immersive-like-activation.
“eBay has always brought enthusiasts closer to the things they’re passionate about, and eBay Live gives us a new way to make those moments even more immersive,” explains Ashish Chhabra, VP and General Manager of eBay Live in announcement notes. “With Endless Runway: The Archive, we’re opening up this incredible collection to people everywhere, giving them the opportunity to discover the stories behind these iconic pieces, engage with the experts who know them best, bid in real time and own a piece of fashion history.”
Additional exhibition highlights sourced from eBay include archival pieces by Anna Sui, Bob Mackie, Donna Karan, Halston, Isaac Mizrahi, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Todd Oldham, Tom Ford, Virgil Abloh and more. “New York Fashion Week is built on generations of designers who have shaped American fashion, and eBay’s Endless Runway: The Archive celebrates that legacy. Through its marketplace and this retrospective, eBay connects more than three decades of rare, vintage and archival fashion with the collectors shaping its future,” says Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA.

The auction will be a moment for collectors and fashion enthusiasts to see, experience, discover, and bid on garments and accessories that interest them. And during the auction, participants will get to hear from industry voices on the cultural significance behind each garment or accessory while being auctioned.
Hosting the eBay Live auction will be American fashion designer and businesswoman Jenna Lyons. The auction will also be streamed live. Carlos Nazario will be curating the pieces, showing how they fit into each chapter of American history from the glamor and liberation of the 70s to the rise of American sportswear, to 90s minimalism and grunge, the international influence of American designers at European houses, and the voices that shape the New York fashion industry today.
This event is an opportunity to recycle and give a fresh wind of life to archival pieces by American designers. eBay has been connecting consumers to quality buys since the birth of the marketplace. Endless Runway: The Archive is just an extension of connecting consumers with recycled luxury fashion. All pieces included in the exhibition were sourced from eBay and styled by eBay’s Resident Stylist Brie Welch, with proceeds from the eBay Live auction benefiting the CFDA.

“I love the crystal-encrusted slip dress that was worn in my 40th anniversary show by Bella Hadid. It’s super glamorous but also streamlined, seasonless and timeless. This dress was first shown for Resort 1990 and has since been worn by everyone from Madonna to Sabrina Carpenter. I think it looks every bit as glamorous 35 years later.”
