THE REVIEW
Background
Private members clubs are not a new concept and many have sprung up across New York City and major metropolises over the past years. They in fact go back to 17th century London, an invention by the aristocracy for the sole purpose of networking, for leisure, and for socializing. The Park Terrace Hotel and accompanying private members club, Branch is a calm oasis in the heart of Midtown Manhattan that includes networking, leisure, and good fare. Opened in 2018, the hotel which sits on West 40th Street faces Bryant Park. Funded by the U.S. Immigration Fund’s EB-5 Program, it’s modern, sleek, and stylish, while also being quiet and relaxing.
Where Is It?
Just a stone’s throw from the New York Public Library and overlooking Bryant Park, the location also makes it easy to get to Times Squares, Grand Central Station, and 5th Avenue for shopping. Surrounding the hotel is an array of restaurants and cafes. Part of the city’s hustle and bustle alights around the hotel, so when staying, you’re in a kinesthetic part of New York. Public transport is also close by with Subway lines B, D, M, F at 42nd Street-Bryant Park.
What’s It Like?
Throughout the hotel you will find hydration stations with unlimited bottle water. From the moment you walk in, you’ll find a modern lobby with seating and a reception desk. If you’re a member or guest, you just head up to Branch to work, dine, or have a meeting.

Rooms
There are 226 rooms, which are modern in style from the Classics to Premier High Floor rooms and suites, designed by Stonehill Taylor architects. Premier- High Floor rooms are spacious with floor-to-ceiling windows with blackout curtains (and let me tell you, they really block out outside light), a Queen bed (with 300-thread-count cotton sheets), table, and one-seater chair. The room is really spacious and makes working from inside of it also delightful as much as working from Branch on the 6th floor. The bathroom is separated by a sliding door and includes a spacious shower, and sizeable sink and counter space.

Located on the 6th floor is Branch, a 7am to 11pm lounge for members and hotel guests that includes workspace and an outdoor lounge. Because it’s open so early, it means that breakfast is served with light fare. Lox and Bagels, yogurt, fruit, sliced meats, fresh juice, tea, and coffee are a plenty. Or you can dine in the restaurant downstairs at La Pecora Bianca it’s also a good option. The Norwegian Royale hits the spot and it can be served without bread and comes with a side salad.

During the day members work from the lounge on their laptops, conducting meetings and phone calls. It’s an inspiring space where the entrepreneurial spirit and networking spirit is alive and well. In the afternoon, the Terrazzo Lounge is where members and hotel guest can munch on pastries from Magnolia and Breads Bakery, while drinking coffee by La Colombe.
In the evening, Branch serves well-crafted must-try cocktails. In at number 5, Basil Bloom is delicate yet screams “I’m here” with shochu, creme de coconut, lemon, strawberry cordial, basil eau de vie. Flora Fizz at number 4 is also subtle but tasty with pink peppercorn infused fords gin, lemon, giffard framboise, basil eau de vie, and agave, prosecco.
Cocktails are seasonal and make with top quality ingredients | Photo Provided by: Branch
At number 3, Mint Condition with cucumber mint ketel one, lime, housemade cucumber syrup, green chartreuse is fizzy and the notes of cucumber overpowers the mint. It’s the perfect summertime cocktail, not too overpowering but a drink that captivates. At 2, Pandan Botanique with diplomatico dark rum, lime, and kota pandan liqueur is so unique that it must be tried to be believed. Pandan is a tropical plant from Southeast Asia that’s found in drinks, desserts, and rice. This cocktail is nutty yet harmonious at the same time. It would be my number one pick but Hot Tropic takes prime spot, with convite mezcal, el jimador tequila, passionfruit, vanilla, lime, and Thai chili, it’s the kick of pepper and quite frankly all the ingredients are something my taste buds have never experienced before. This cocktail takes home the gold.
We’re under the notion that you can never go wrote with Burrata so that’s what we did. It’s served with roasted cherry tomatoes on a bed of mixed greens and drizzled with balsamic glaze and a side of sourdough. The Truffle Cheese Toastie with Tomato Bisque hits the spot when you don’t want something heavy. The Toastie is like a grilled cheese sandwich and made with Havarti cheese and truffle brie on sourdough.
Meetings

There are several meeting room types from The Ivy on the 6th floor with floor-to-ceiling windows that oversee Bryant Park. A boardroom that seats 10, it has a light palette charm that’s ideal for a small meeting. The Pergola is an outside lounge space for 40, that also overlooks the park, that’s ideal for networking events. Stacks is larger fitting up to 70 people great for meetings and training sessions.
Leisure
You can’t expect a private member’s club with hotel not to have a top-notch gym and sauna. You won’t be disappointed with the gym, and there’s also a dry sauna. And, there’s a business center too.
Verdict
Stay here and dine here. From the kind staff to the relaxing rooms you can’t go wrong.
Best For its location, which gets you to the upper and lower parts of the city in 20-30 minutes with public transport.
