Jennifer Lopez Stuns At The Elie Saab SS24 Haute Couture Show, Which Begs To Differ That In An Age Of Influencers, Real Celebrities Still Have Star Power

Known to wear the Lebanese designer a lot, JLo captures the show as the main celebrity in attendance

Now when you go to Paris Fashion Week, all you see are influencers. Crowds cheer for them as if they are the A-list set, roaring in sounds of the yesteryear 80s when Hollywood’s elite only received such praise. But in the busyness and hub bub in front of Palais de Tokyo today, Jenny from the Block stepped out, posing in front of the entrance of a roaring crowd and incessant camera clicks of photographers.

This is a big year for the actor, singer, and dancer. Already this year she stunned at the Golden Globes, wearing a custom blush pink Nicole + Felicia Couture gown. She’s already unveiled a new single Can’t Get Enough, and on February 16th her new album, This Is Me Now drops. Lebanese designers Nicolas Jebran and Zuhair Murad have designed JLo’s stage wear before, so it will be interesting to see if Elie Saab will venture in that direction, if she goes on tour for this new album.

Here are 3 takeaways from the Elie Saab show:

Takeaway 1- One is more intimate

Glamor queen Jenny attended the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show on Monday and stunned crowds, but the house of Elie Saab has not yet reached the levels of the big European labels, where there are many a celebrity in attendance. And while it’s on its way to reaching those levels, Elie Saab as a brand proves that there are benefits to not having reached those levels yet. JLo was their only top celebrity in attendance and this brought more attention to the brand. While it certainly looks good to have several of the A-list set sitting front row at your show, one top celebrity brings an intimacy to the brand, where with several celebrities everything is decentralized.

Takeaway 2-The same is ok

The House continues to design with the same signature thumbprint as it has been doing for several seasons now. Like Hedi Slimane, who keeps us in the 1970s sartorially, Ellie Saab keeps us in the same silhouette design style. But, it works for his customer base, and brings a comfort to those who don’t like their designers changing things up, even a bit. And, it works for JLo, who has been known to wear Elie Saab more than a time or two. She wore the brand to the 2015 Oscars, in 2022 for the Marry Me live concert, and last year she wore the brand for her drinks brand Delola tour event. Quite simply she’s wore Elie Saab a lot over the years to award shows and on red carpets. So, like for a lot of women, the house’s signature style is working for them.

Takeaway 3- Sticking close to the region brings comfort

Elie Saab isn’t the only Arab doing this this season, of picking a theme that’s related to the Middle East Region. Georges Hobeika and Rami Al Ali have done the same. There’s something enchanting and exotic about Arab world themes and the House’s theme of Desert Rose, takes inspiration from Marrakesh. Bringing in the city’s archways in the form of sandstone tulle passages, to silk thread tresses, ornate engraved porticos, and lively mosaic detailing on corsets on gowns, is the House’s way of bringing alive the richness of this north African city. As he has done with other collections, Saab is able to transport people around the world through his couture craftsmanship.
