Press Onwards To Jesus
When we think of a new year we think of new beginnings, new goals, and new resolutions. It’s always good to strive to make new goals. In this new year, after such a challenging 2020, Philippians 3: 12-14 comes to mind, as it’s a reminder that our purpose is rooted in Jesus. It’s a reminder to press on and look forward, not backward.
As believers, Jesus is the center of our faith. God in the flesh, He is the model for our relationship with our man. By God’s grace we have made it to another year. And our goal is Jesus, not flesh. Because we reading this are still alive, our goal for 2021 is to press on and hold on to the author and finisher of our faith- Jesus. We are to move on from the past, from last year, from thought processes and strongholds that have held us back.
No matter what has happened in past years and in 2020, we are to let go of it and press on towards the prize, which is Jesus. Whatever your calling, press onwards towards Jesus. Whatever your job, press onwards to Jesus. Whoever has hurt you, let go, forgive, and press onwards to Jesus. If you feel alone, press onwards to Jesus. If you’re in transitions, press onwards to Jesus. If you’re struggling, press onwards to Jesus. If you have key relationships breaking down, press onwards to Jesus.
May we not lose sight of this fact that Jesus is our goal and no matter what we encounter in 2021- loss, gain, pain, joy, favor that we are going to continue onwards to Jesus. It’s when we do this, we know we are maturing in Him. And, it’s when we do this that those around us, believers and unbelievers will see Jesus in us, which will encourage and inspire them.
