The Review
Background
Opened in 2003, the hotel is part of the JW Marriott Brand, meaning its focus on holistic well-being and luxury experiences makes it unique to other Marriott brands. With high-end amenities like the Executive Lounge, the spa, swimming pools, and relaxation, guests to the JW Marriott leave feeling rested and revived.
From the moment you arrive and get out of the car, you’re warmly greeted by the hotel’s bellman. This initial warm greeting sets the tone for your stay, and we found it consistent throughout our time at the hotel. It’s the staff that makes a hotel stay memorable, and every question asked at the front desk, and experiences in the Executive Lounge and Lemongrass was met with kindness and the upmost attention to detail. We observed how other guests were taken care of and their treatment also seemed to be consistent with ours. Without a doubt, you will be looked after and treated well at the hotel.
Where Is it?
Only a 10-minute car ride from Cairo Airport and 30 minutes from downtown Cairo, it’s really a city within a city. The hotel concierge can arrange airport pick up and drop off for $40 USD each way. The hotel has everything one needs, so leaving isn’t really necessary. But, it’s Cairo, a city with rich history and heritage so leaving is a must. But when returning, there’s enough to keep people of all ages busy.
What’s It Like?
You feel the kinesthetic energy more than you see it. While the hotel is busy, it’s not loud or overwhelming. At any one time there can be a wedding happening, a conference, people scurrying to dinner, or others heading to or leaving leisure activities. Because of the massive size of the property and its onsite offerings, it’s an ideal hotel for locals to have a staycation.

Food & Drink
There are 11 on site restaurants with a plethora of international cuisine types for whatever you might be craving from JW Steakhouse to La Patisserie, and Lemongrass.
Lemongrass serves Asian fusion fare from dim sum, to sushi rolls, soups, and meat dishes that take inspiration from Hong Kong, Thai, Singaporean, and mainland China cuisine. The Kung Pao Chicken with capsicum, onions, cashew nuts have a hint of spice from the dried red chili. The Thai Chicken Curry melts in your mouth, and is an infusion of flavors with eggplant, basil, lemongrass, and coconut milk. When it’s impossible to order from the dessert menu because you’re too full, the restaurant serves mango rice pudding and the most divine lemongrass and ginger tea with honey.
Leisure
There’s so much to do on site from the Mandara Spa that offers Cleopatra and Nefertiti facials, and a chocolate oil massage. There’s also a health center that comes complete with Techogym cardiovascular equipment, that includes a jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. The Executive Lounge on the 7th floor is for adults only and serves breakfast from 6:30-11am, and is available for complimentary soft drinks from 6am-midnight, happy hour from 6-8pm, and dessert time from 8-9pm. Complimentary meeting rooms for up to two hours can be booked and parking, are both included with the Executive Lounge.

There’s also an 18-hole golf course with the Mirage City Golf Club and driving range. Egypt is no stranger to golf and has been a regional leader in the sport, producing the country’s most famous pro golfer Hassan Hassanein, in the 1950s.
