The Review
Background
The St. Regis New York was founded by John Jacob Astor IV in 1904, an American business magnate and real estate developer whose family lived in the hotel. He was the richest passenger on the RMS Titanic ship that went down in 1912. Going down with the ship, his vision of having a technologically advanced and luxurious hotel translated in every room having a telephone- something new at the hotel- carries on in the 40 St. Regis properties around the world.
Where Is It?
Located on 5th Avenue, guests and visitors are a stone’s throw from all the luxury shopping stores, as well as Rockefeller Center and Times Square.
What’s It Like?
The Beaux Art style hotel has been able to seamlessly bridge the old with the new, in a timelessly modern aesthetic. The hotel underwent a multi-phase renovation that lasted three years, with the hotel reaching its competition in 2025.

The blue canopy behind the bed offers a regal touch to the room, and contrasts well with the grey and white horizontal wallpaper stripes. Food and Drink
La Maisonette | Photo provided by St. Regis New York
Breakfast is served in La Maisonette, a brightly coloured restaurant with modernist artistic touches. Lots of light pink, it goes well with the emerald green seating. Taking a nod from the 1910’s, the space was the original breakfast room of the hotel. It’s the best ambience to start your day with breakfast with friends and family, or to have a business breakfast meeting. Ordering a la carte, options range from Continental Breakfast, to an American breakfast, or your typical lox with bagels.
The King Cole Bar | Photo provided by St. Regis New York
The King Cole Bar is well known and has been featured in many-a-movie like The Devil Wears Prada to The First Wives Club. With strong hints of early 20th century NYC, it’s iconic. The bartender can whip up any signature cocktail and mocktail of your liking, but the bar is known for its selection of Bloody Mary’s (like the Red Snapper and The Capitol Mary), wines, and cocktails. The Best Address cocktail with volcan cristalino tequila, canton ginger liqueur, lemon, and sriracha bitters hits the spot and is on the stronger side of things. Overall, the ambience with muted lighting brings in a lustrous and upscale vibe.
The Drawing Room as it is known today, was once called Astor Court. Filled with velvet couches and individual sleek chairs, it’s the ideal place for a late afternoon meal or dinner. Newly redone, its vibe is lounge-style where guests can dine on shareable plates and larger meal options. You must try the warm and marinated olives. It’s also possible to order from the room service menu, as it’s more expansive until The Drawing Room’s fuller menu is unveiled. The salmon and filet mignon hit the spot, a side of spinach or French fries- or both are good meal options.

Meetings
There are 16 event spaces in the hotel. Because the hotel is central in Midtown Manhattan, it’s an ideal location to host a wedding, meeting, seminar, or luncheon. There are various room style options from The Library with its masculine tones and wood panelled walls, or the Fontainebleau with a very gilded age design and crystal chandeliers, to the Mezzanine Conference Room that’s very modern and boardroom-like in style. The hotel offers 360-degree 3D tours online for those wanting a close view of the event spaces, and there is an on-site planner and Maître D’ make sure every detail and touch is carried out for your function.
Leisure
There is an onsite state-of-the-art Athletic Club that’s open 24 hours and available to all hotel guests. Complete with ARTIS equipment by Technogym there is cardio and weight equipment, as well as locker rooms. Yoga and Pilates trailers can be arranged upon request. For some added motivation, personal trainers can be arranged through the Fitness Centre at their hotel near Central Park as well. The hotel also offers a private sabrage masterclass, lasting 30 minutes, which includes a bottle of Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label Champagne, 1 trail bottle of sparkling wine, and canapés for up to 4 guests. Reservations must be made two weeks in advance.
Verdict stay here.
