Author Cleere Cherry Reaves shares how to focus on God today so that you can trust Him with tomorrow in a new 52-week devotional

How do we manage to stay present despite the looming demands of what lies ahead? How do we establish new rhythms when the pace we’ve set for ourselves is unsustainable? What does it look like to practically apply the Word in our particular situations? How do we invite God to revive the dry, stale, tired, or weary places within us?

In Revive: Declarations of God’s Truth to Renew Your Spirit (Thomas Nelson Gift Books, October 2024), author, speaker, and podcaster Cleere Cherry Reeves takes readers on a year-long journey to reclaim a spirit of truth, redefine the heavy and hopeless places to hope-filled, and reposture their hearts in peace that supersedes circumstance.

Her message is simple: Our approach to each day determines the direction in which it goes. Therefore, we have the power to change our perspectives, thoughts, and focus in any situation or struggle. Our expectations determine our experience; do we expect God to show up personally and practically right where we are?

“Instead of trusting our heavenly Father’s authority over our day, sometimes it’s easier to complain and focus on the circumstances of our daily life,” Reaves writes. “Maybe the goals we’re seeking are genuinely good—we’d like a new car to make sure we have a reliable way to commute to work every day, or we’re looking for an opportunity to move closer to family. In times like these, we must remind ourselves of the One who has authority over where we’ve been, where we currently stand, and the place where we’re going.”

“I have personally written out weekly declarations for myself and my family for several years now, and in doing so, I have learned the importance of using centralized, personal, and specific key points that provide grounding application to walk out our faith,” Reaves explains. “I genuinely believe that if people are intentional with practicing declarations, God will use it to work miracles inside you, through you, and around you. When you meditate on the character of God and let that determine your perspective, everything shifts, even if nothing around you changes.”
