The Mighty Conqueror
What a realization that the world has made it 2022. That since the death of Jesus, in the era of anno domini, God has kept the world going despite wars, plagues, pandemics, pain, and suffering on all continents. This month SEELE’s theme is “New Year: New Beginnings,” where we look forward to the new thing He is going to do in our lives and on the earth. As the Lord continues to keep the world going, letting twelve months pass until Jesus returns, we need to always have one thing in mind: That God is our mighty conqueror.
Isaiah wrote in chapter 6 and verse 1 that the train of God’s robe, in the Throne Room in Heaven took up the whole room. Isaiah knew this as God had given him visions of Heaven. What a sight that must be of seeing flowing fabric filling a room, like an ocean that stretches as far as the eye can see, our Father’s robe stretches as far as the eye can see.
Often when we think of monarchs, we think of them wearing elaborate robes that trail down their backsides to the ground, trailing behind them as they walk. Royal robes show status and glory. When kings would go into battles, the winning king would cut off the losing king’s robe and add it onto the hem of his robe. So, for kings that won lots of battles they had really long robes, giving them greater status.
If our God’s Kingly robe takes up a whole room and goes as far as the eye can see, it shows He is the Mighty Conqueror, that He has defeated much and His status as the one true God is great, glorious and magnificent. This fact should always be in our hearts and minds every year because it will dictate how we walk with God, how we honor His Word, how we see ourselves, and how we treat others. Because He is the King of Kings, He is able to fully protect us when we steer clear of living an active sinful life. And because He has overcome sin by sending Jesus to undo what Adam and Eve did, we are His sons and daughters when we repent and live in right standing with Him. As His children we can stand under His robe knowing that our loving God is for us, with us, and in us.
Let this be your picture of God: Him sitting on His elaborate throne wearing His robe of victory, while loving you. When we have this view and adoration of Him, we will get through 2022 and every year’s battles and challenges knowing God is indeed our conqueror.
