A Modern-Day Woman: 3 Universal Truths About Being a Woman
Being a modern-day woman is no easy feat. We learn to handle so many different things in our lives whether it’s work or taking care of a baby. But that’s what makes us so special and unique. You should learn to embrace your flaws and love yourself for who you are right now, regardless of your gender
You might think that body shaming is long gone but it’s still very much prevalent in our lives. As a woman, you might want to compare yourself to an influencer with a million followers online or a celebrity with an envious body. But, you don’t know what that person went through to get that way and for all you know, maybe they didn’t have a baby right now like you did. Try as you might, no amount of exercise or dieting is going to make you look like that person. Even as a man, you’re not going to feel any better by looking at an actor who has a six-pack or a famous male model who is super skinny. You should accept the way you are right now, no matter what the scale shows you.
Being at work all day or if you’re at home looking after your little one, might make it seem like an almost impossible task to look after yourself. But looking after yourself doesn’t mean that you need to get new clothes or party at night, it’s the simple notion that you’re going to make the effort to care for your body, mentally and physically. Take a moment to catch up with your friends or watch a good movie. If you’re just slogging away at whatever you’re doing for most of the day, you’re not going to feel good about yourself. In fact, you might even feel like you’re missing out on life. Go out to that café that you always wanted to go to or go on that vacation during your time off. You deserve it!
As women, we tend to forget how strong we truly are. We might be overly critical of ourselves by putting ourselves down at times just because someone said something or because we believe in something that’s not necessarily true. This doesn’t mean that’s who we are. You’re so much more than that, whether you’re a man or a woman. We need to remember that we’re strong, and that’s the universal truth.
