Focus on God, Don’t Date for Dating Sake

Valentines month is here again, don’t lose focus, Keep waiting on the Lord for your spouse

During the month of Valentines, many single believers who are patiently waiting on the Lord for their spouse are conflicted about the wait.  The question of to date or not to date? Is a question that I’m sure all believers waiting on God for their spouse run into, myself included.

We all desire human companionship, so many times I was tempted to date for dating sake but then I would remember that I am waiting on the Lord for my husband.  Now if the Lord has released you and allowed you to date as you wait please don’t take offense to this text, but if like me the Lord had spoken to you distinctly about the characteristics of your kingdom spouse and that you would know them when you saw them, then dating around though God did not strictly forbade me to do it, He never released me to do it either.  The month of February was always a reminder that it was yet another year I was spending February single and alone.

Waiting on the Lord is not an easy journey, though God’s grace was able to keep me it was truly difficult to deny myself human companionship, we were all made to have companionship, even God in Genesis said that it was not God for men to be alone.  So, to spend this month where there are couples everywhere, where love is plastered everywhere you go, is not an easy one.

As a single believer in this month instead of having focused on what you don’t have, focussing on God is our best strategy to avoid falling into the temptation of dating so you don’t feel alone.  Many single believers are feeling like outcasts, unwanted like the woman with the issue of blood, Yes, this is yet another Valentine’s month that will remind you of your affliction and what you lack right now, but I encourage you to have faith like this woman with the issue of blood in  Mark5:24-34 and Luke8:43-48 who was also afflicted with a condition of bleeding for 12 years and in a single occasion after stepping out in faith, pushing past the noise of the crowd, she touched the hem of Jesus Christs garment and was made whole in that instant.  And like this woman push through the noise of Valentine’s month, push through the voices telling you it’s yet another valentines you are single, push through that desire to want to date for dating sake and not to feel alone, and touch the hem of His garment and hold on to it until the promise of your spouse and your kingdom marriage is made manifest in your life.

This was my personal struggle for many years, waiting and waiting, yet the promise never seemed to be made manifest, and many times I gave up on that promise but the bible in Prov13:12 TPT says “When hopes dream seems to drag on and on, the delay can be depressing.  But when at last your dream comes true, life’s sweetness will satisfy your soul”. You will be satisfied believer in Christ when the promise is made manifest in your life, this is just a momentary affliction, I can personally testify to that. I am holding my promise in my hands and I know one day you will hold yours.
