How’s Your Soul?- Spiritual Life
Continuing with the series, How’s Your Soul?, I want to talk about our spiritual lives. For Christians, Scripture tells us that by seeking God first- His Kingdom and His righteousness that anything and everything that we need will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33). Making time for God in the busyness of this 2017 plugged in, tech, selfish, gotta get it all world can be a challenge, where Jesus is left in the dust and He’s not even a priority. We often have to fight for time with God.
But a spiritual life where Jesus is supreme is the right life. Why? Because when we make Him first, no what is going on around us- good or bad the Fruits of the Spirit should be flowing inside our souls. God is really concerned about the foundation of our souls- what drives us, our motivations, why we do what we do, our loves (is it for Him?), and our pain and receiving healing from it.
One way to make sure that we have an existent spiritual life is to resolve. Resolve to make time for God everyday. Sure, sometimes there will be days that we don’t pray, much less read Scripture. But we can resolve in life’s busiest days to go into a quiet place and pray or read a Psalm or Proverb. We can resolve to be active in our churches by serving in some way. Another way to have an existent spiritual life is resolve to be there for others- volunteer or mentor others.
Have you ever had times where you felt tired- physically and spiritually? You’re getting enough hours of sleep but you’re just plain tired. Sometimes when our spiritual lives are not in order, our physical lives aren’t either. We were made to commune with God and the only way to get recharged is to plug out of the world and plug into Him.
A good way to recharge and not let a nonexistent spiritual life take you over is to use the Sabbath Day of rest. God gave us one day a week to plug into Him and not do what we do what we do 6 days a week, and to be with Him and family/ friends to get charged for a week will bring.
Happy Friday xo!
